Chapter 206 Vanished
Chapter 206 Vanished
Caleb flashed a mischievous grin.
“No chance of that happening. I’ve changed my ways. You’re the only one for me.”
Sierra pretended to gag.
“Just the other day, you said Jasmine was the only one for you.”
Caleb shrugged playfully. “Well then, I guess you’re my number two.”

Sierra kicked lightly in his direction. “What, you think you’re Silas now? Trying to juggle two women at once?”
Caleb raised an eyebrow. “Why bring up that jerk for no reason? Let’s not ruin a perfectly good day.”
Sierra chuckled. “You’re right, my bad.”
Caleb then turned toward Jasmine. “Hey Jasmine, we’ve been hauling boxes and unpacking all day. Don’t you think you owe us a nice dinner tonight?”
Jasmine smiled warmly. “Absolutely. Pick any place you’d like.”
Caleb teased, “With what money? Last I checked, your wallet was looking pretty thin. Don’t make us end up doing a runner from the restaurant.”
Before Jasmine could reply, Ethan spoke up calmly.
“I’ll cover it.”
Caleb tilted his head. “And why would you do that?”
Ethan replied simply, “Because she’s joining Zenith Tech.”
Jasmine nodded.
“Honestly, I already accepted the offer-I just never officially started. Now that the divorce is underway and the move is done, things are settling down. It’s time I got my career back on track.
“So I’m planning to start next Monday.”
Sierra looked concerned.
“Next Monday? That’s only four days from now. Shouldn’t you wait until you have the divorce papers in hand? What if Silas finds out? Could he cause trouble?”
Caleb cleared his throat confidently.
“Won’t be a problem. Not at all.”

Sierra pressed, “How can you be so sure?”
Caleb let out a low laugh.
“Because Silas’ grandmother already pulled some strings to fast-track Jasmine’s divorce filing.”
Sierra looked puzzled. “How do you know what his grandmother is up to?”
Caleb shot a glance toward Ethan.

Truth was, someone else had also been keeping tabs on the divorce proceedings-just as a precaution.
Madeline thought she had the connections to control the situation.
She had no idea there was someone with even stronger leverage and far more skill in navigating these kinds of games.
This was the classic ploy-targeting someone beneath you, oblivious to the greater power pulling the strings.
Madeline would probably never figure out who was behind the sudden shutdown of her cosmetic surgery clinic.
Caleb continued, “If I had to guess, Jasmine will probably receive the court mediation notice in the next couple of days.”
Sierra asked, “Why mediation?”
Caleb explained, “Just procedure. If mediation doesn’t work, the court will just move forward with granting the divorce outright.”
Sierra pressed her lips together.
“Ugh, getting divorced is such a drag.”
Caleb nodded. “Actually, this is pretty straightforward. At least there’s no mandatory cooling-off period here. I’ve heard in some states that a thirty-day waiting period ruins people’s lives-if one person changes their mind, you’re stuck.”
Sierra sighed heavily.
“Makes you think the best move is to just avoid marriage altogether. Nothing but drama. No marriage, no problems.”
Caleb crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair.
“Don’t be so cynical. Divorce is what happens when you marry the wrong person. When you meet the right one, you’ll want to tie the knot in a heartbeat.
“That’s why you’ve gotta keep your eyes wide open before saying ‘I do.’ Don’t let some whirlwind romance blind you-only to realize after the wedding that it was all a facade.”

Chapter 206 Vanished
“In marriage, you either marry someone you’re both in love with, or at the very least, someone who truly loves you. If you marry someone you love but who doesn’t love you back? That’s a one-way ticket to misery. You’re basically digging your own grave.”
Caleb was on a roll, but the table had gone quiet.
Jasmine looked down, her expression slightly awkward, and turned her face away gently.
Ethan simply stood up and walked toward the entrance.
Sierra shot Caleb a sharp look.
“You really know how to kill the mood.”
Caleb rubbed the back of his neck, grinning sheepishly. “Got carried away. My bad. Forget I said all that.

That evening, Jasmine reserved a table at a nearby upscale restaurant and treated everyone to dinner.
The only downside was that Anna didn’t feel up to going out, so Margaret volunteered to stay behind and keep her company.
Jasmine felt bad about it, but Margaret reassured her, “It’s perfectly fine. You young folks go enjoy yourselves together. I’ll stay here and look after your mom. Don’t worry-I brought over everything from the fridge. I’ll whip up a nice dinner for her soon.”
Jasmine took Margaret’s hands in hers.
“Margaret, please make sure you take care of yourself too, not just my mom.”
“Don’t you worry, dear. Go on and have a good time. It’s not often you all get together like this. Perfect chance to catch up and unwind.”
Jasmine finally agreed, and the group headed to the restaurant.
Everyone was in good spirits and shared similar interests, so over the meal the conversation drifted toward future trends in the artificial intelligence market.
They talked and laughed, completely losing track of time-before they knew it, almost four hours had passed.
Just as they were stepping out of the restaurant, Jasmine’s phone rang. It was Margaret, and she sounded panicked, her voice trembling through the phone.
“Jasmine, it’s awful! Your mother-she’s gone!”
Jasmine’s breath caught in her chest. A cold wave rushed through her body, draining the warmth from her
veins.
