Chapter 22 Silas Refuses the Loan

Chapter 22 Silas Refuses the Loan

But for Spud, it was a life-saving miracle.

Afterward, Spud had told her: if she ever needed anything, she just had to ask.

But Jasmine had been using an alias back then.

So Spud had no idea she was actually Arthur Thorne’s daughter.

The leader was forced to reassess the woman in front of him.

She was fearless, composed, and had the guts of a lion.

Plus, she looked like a goddess-a truly rare find.

The fact that she knew his boss’s secret nickname made him extremely cautious.

Jasmine got straight to the point. “Give me two days. Six hundred million. I’ll pay you back in full.”

The man looked skeptical. “Are you sure? Two days?”

“Yes. Two days.”

“Why should I trust you?”

“Because my house is here, and my parents are here. If I break my word, you have a thousand ways to destroy me.”

The man thought for a moment. “Fine! Two days it is. I’ll trust you this once.”

Jasmine pulled out her wallet and emptied all the cash inside.

It was a mix of bills totaling about three thousand dollars.

“Take this and buy the boys dinner for their trouble. But don’t think for a second this is compensation for that slap. You earned that.

“Because the man you hit was my father.”

The man looked at the cash, unsure whether he should take it.

Jasmine shoved the money into his hand. “You can leave now. I don’t expect we’ll meet again.”

She’d said two days, and she meant two days.

After the men left, Eleanor helped Arthur back out into the living room.

“Jasmine, did you manage to borrow the money?”

Jasmine didn’t answer her. She looked at Arthur. “Dad, I’ve settled the debt. Don’t stress anymore. Everything is going to be okay.”

“Jasmine…” Arthur was overwhelmed with shame.

He had raised this girl, but he had never truly fulfilled his duty as a father.

Growing up, Jasmine never asked for anything, never complained, and showed a maturity far beyond her years.

But the more she acted this way, the more it broke Arthur’s heart.

He knew Jasmine was working hard to hide her true self. She didn’t want anyone to see her vulnerability.

“Dad, Mom, I’m heading out. I have a reunion tonight.”

Before Eleanor could ask another question, Jasmine grabbed her bag and left.

Eleanor was visibly annoyed.

“Does that girl even see me as her mother anymore? She just leaves? Is this house a prison or something? She can’t wait to get away.

“A reunion? She actually has the nerve to go out and party!”

Arthur let out a heavy sigh. “What more do you want from her! It’s six hundred million, Eleanor. We’ve put that entire burden on her shoulders.”

Arthur’s voice trembled with emotion.

“The Thorne family is in ruins, and it’s the daughter who shares none of our blood who is saving us. Eleanor, don’t you ever forget-from the second you brought her into this house, we became indebted to that child for life!”

Jasmine sat in the driver’s seat, lost in thought.

If she could just get the money from Ethan Cross, paying off the $600 million in two days would be easy.

But she and Ethan had agreed to sign the contract next week. She couldn’t very well ask him to pay before the ink was even dry.

There was only one other option left.

Silas Vance.

Jasmine called Silas.

When he answered, she didn’t waste time with pleasantries.

“My father needs four hundred million urgently. Can I borrow it from you? I’ll pay you back within a week.”

Silas was silent for a long time on the other end.

“Given the current state of Thorne Enterprises, a week is a pipe dream. You couldn’t pay back in a year.”

“I can sign a promissory note.”

“What good is a note for money you can’t pay back?”

Jasmine felt a sharp pang in her chest.

Silas was a businessman through and through; mention money, and he turned into a machine.

Jasmine was forced to lower her voice. “For the sake of our marriage… just this once. I’m… I’m begging you.”

After another long pause, Silas said, “Let me think about it.”
