Chapter 221 Goddaughter
Chapter 221 Goddaughter
Richard chuckled, “What? You think my place is a dump and don’t wanna come?”
Jasmine could tell he was just messing with her.
If Richard himself invited her and she said no, she’d be the one looking rude.
But going over… it just felt a little awkward.
After a moment’s thought, she smiled lightly.
“I was just wondering what I should bring tonight.”
Richard laughed out loud.
“Don’t bring a thing. Just yourself. We’re just hanging out.”
Not long after, Richard headed out.
Ethan walked him to the door.
Zack was staring at Jasmine with pure admiration.
Amused by his expression, she raised an eyebrow.
“Do I look that interesting?”
Zack grinned. “It’s not about looks. It just feels unreal.”
“Oh?”

“The internet legend Storm-someone I’ve always looked up to-is standing right here, and we’re gonna work together. It’s wild.”
Jasmine gave a soft laugh.
“Aren’t you afraid Mr. Brooks might get jealous?”
“Nah, he wouldn’t. It’s not like I’m fanboying over some random person. It’s you.”
Jasmine felt there was something odd about how he’d phrased that, but she couldn’t quite place it.
Ethan returned.
“You don’t have to go tonight if you don’t want to.”
Jasmine shook her head. “I already told Mr. Crawford yes. Can’t back out now.”
“Richard can be a little spontaneous. I just don’t want you to feel uncomfortable.”

“I’ll be fine. I’m pretty adaptable. It’s just my first time going to his place-not sure what’s appropriate to bring.”
A slight smile touched Ethan’s lips. “I’ll take care of it.”
Silas’ mood had gone from bad to worse.
He’d called over and over-no answer-until finally, she blocked him.
Real classy, Jasmine.
Ever since the divorce, she’d acted like they were complete strangers.
Furious, he slammed his phone onto the floor.
Felicity had just gotten back from shopping with Madeline and Victoria. Walking in and seeing the mess, she startled.
“Silas, what’s wrong?”
He brushed it off. “Nothing. Phone slipped.”
“Oh.” Felicity didn’t press.
Madeline eyed the shattered phone on the floor. She wasn’t buying the “slipped” story.
“Divorce finalized?”
“Yeah.”
“Finally. Maybe now things can settle down.”
Victoria beamed. “Such a good day! Madeline, don’t you think we should celebrate?”
Madeline considered it. “Not a bad idea. Tell Gloria to pick up some groceries for dinner-the good stuff.”
“On it!” Victoria practically skipped away, her happiness obvious to anyone.
The “bad luck charm” she’d resented for so long was finally gone. As far as Victoria was concerned, nothing could be better.
Madeline glanced at Silas.
“Why the long face? Shouldn’t you be relieved?”
Good day?
The words grated on him.

But he held back in front of his grandmother, forcing a calm tone.
“Just some issues at work. It’s stressing me out.”

“You’re a father now, Silas. You need to keep your temper in check. What kind of example is that for Felicity and your son?”
Silas stayed silent.
“If you’re under too much pressure, take Felicity away next week. Go relax somewhere.”
“I’ve got that tech expo out of town. Can’t miss it.”
Madeline’s brow furrowed slightly.
“Don’t get so wrapped up in work that you neglect Felicity. And lately you’ve been coming home later and later-what’s going on?”
“Just busy. Lots of overtime.”
Madeline sniffed. “Does the company have no other managers? Does the CEO need to pull overtime every single night?”
