Chapter 239 The Bet
Chapter 239 The Bet
A voire spoke up behind her, tinged with irritation.
Jasmine turned around.
All trace of gentleness had vanished froin Ethan’s expression.
“I hope your intelligence matches your looks.”
It took Felicity a few seconds to catch the meaning.
Guess they didn’t match after all.
“This is between her and me. What’s it to you?”
Ethan’s eyes shifted to Jasmine.
She knew he was waiting for her cue.
Felicity had seen them together today-no doubt she’d run back and tell Silas.
What would Silas’ face look like when he found out his ex-wife was spending time with his biggest business rival?
The thought alone was pretty entertaining.
A slight smile touched Jasmine’s lips.
“Let me introduce you. This is Mr. Brooks from Zenith Tech. As for me-I’m working at Mr. Brooks’ company now.”
“So she’s my employee,” Ethan said coolly. “You disrespect someone on my team. What do you think that has to do with me?”
Felicity stared, caught off guard.
“You’re Ethan?”
She’d only heard about Ethan through the Vances.
Especially Chloe, who never missed a chance to sing his praises, talking about him like he was some kind of business celebrity.
Felicity’s eyes swept over him again.
So this was the guy.
He was definitely handsome, with that commanding presence-exactly the type women went crazy over.
But since he was Silas’ rival, Felicity wasn’t impressed.

Hmph. He was nothing compared to Silas.

Jasmine had no idea Felicity was putting Silas on a pedestal right then; she just assumed Felicity was
nervous.
She exchanged a quick glance with Ethan and made to leave.
But as she took a step, Felicity spoke up sharply.
“You went and joined his company just to get Silas’ attention, didn’t you? That’s pretty pathetic.”
Felicity really had quite the imagination.
“Yeah,” Jasmine replied smoothly. “You got me. So when you get home, make sure you tell Silas everything. That way he’ll come find me to… clear things up.”
Felicity turned and stormed off in a huff.
“Ms. Sterling.”
Ethan’s voice stopped her.
Felicity spun around, her eyes sharp with dislike.
In an utterly calm tone, Ethan said, “Congratulations on your upcoming marriage to Mr. Vance.”
Felicity looked momentarily confused-why was he bringing that up now?
“When the time comes,” Ethan added evenly, “I’ll be sure to send you both a meaningful gift.”
Without another word, Felicity left, resentment lingering in her gaze.
Jasmine couldn’t help but smile as she turned to Ethan.
“Want to make a bet with me?”
“On what?”
“On whether she tells Silas I’m working at your company now.”
Ethan’s lips curved slightly. “Alright. Let’s bet.”
“You think she will, or she won’t?”
“What are the stakes?”
Jasmine thought it over.
“Whoever loses has to do one thing for the winner-no questions asked.”
“Fair enough.”

Chapter 239 The Bet
“So. Jasmine pressed, “do you pick ‘will’ or ‘won’t’?”
Ethan didn’t answer immediately. He stayed quiet for a few seconds.
But he wasn’t really weighing what Felicity might do.
He was thinking about the stakes.
To keep Silas from reaching out to Jasmine, Felicity would definitely avoid bringing it up.
So his answer would be…
“She will.”
Jasmine smiled, confident.
“Then I pick ‘won’t. I have a feeling you might lose this one.”
Ethan just smiled back and said nothing.
“Ms. Thorne, Mr. Brooks.”
Jasmine turned. She wasn’t surprised at all and greeted the woman with calm familiarity.
After all, she held nothing against Silas’ close friend.
“Hello. We meet again.”
Vivienne’s face showed no guilt, only a quiet composure.

“Thank you for what you did earlier. Not just for me–I want to thank you on Mr. Vance’s behalf as well.”
Jasmine’s smile was warm and gentle, without a trace of condescension.
“Consider it returning the favor from last time. You helped me then; I helped you now. We’re even.”
Slowly, Vivienne’s eyes filled with a quiet smile, bright and clear like a camellia in bloom.
Even working in a place like this, her gaze remained strikingly pure.
Jasmine felt a pang of sympathy.
A woman like her shouldn’t be in a spot like this.
“I’m leaving tomorrow,” Vivienne said softly. “Mr. Vance arranged an apartment for me and helped me secure a nice location for a flower shop.”
Jasmine was mildly surprised.
Why was she sharing this so openly?
