Chapter 27 Negotiating the Thorne Family Loan
Chapter 27 Negotiating the Thorne Family Loan
Jasmine thought to herself, This man is truly, stinking rich.
“I’m so sorry for the trouble. When are you free? I’ll come sign the contract.”
“In a few days,” Ethan said. “Once I’m back from the branch office.”
Jasmine was silent for a few seconds.
“Is there something else you want to say?” Ethan asked.

She gave a faint smile. “You’ve done me such a huge favor. I can’t just take it without offering something in
return.”
“Joining Zenith Tech would be the greatest return,” Ethan said. “Though that sounds a bit greedy of me.”
Jasmine laughed. “It would be an honor to join Zenith. I didn’t have any plans for that before, but now, I might just consider it.”
She’d given up her career to marry Silas because of the Vance family rules.
They didn’t want a daughter-in-law working in public.
But now that she was divorcing him, she had to plan for her future.
“But before that, I have a better return for you.”
“Oh? What is it?”
“Wait until you get back,” Jasmine said.
Ethan’s voice softened slightly. “Alright.”
After breakfast, Jasmine checked out and headed to Grand Manor.
The massive manor felt cold and the atmosphere was suffocating.
The staff was cleaning in silence, afraid to make a sound.
Eleanor’s face was a mask of misery.
When she saw Jasmine, she rushed over. “Did you get the money?”
For the first time, her mother was enthusiastic-all for the sake of the cash.
Jasmine felt a bitter smile form in her heart.
“Yeah. Is the loan agreement ready?”
The cloud over Eleanor’s face vanished instantly. “It’s been ready. I was just waiting for the funds.”

“Let’s sign it first.”

Eleanor breathed a sigh of relief. “I didn’t think our son-in-law would actually help. Jasmine, you really do have some influence after all.”
Jasmine didn’t want to chat. “Let’s just sign.”
Eleanor ran into the study, grabbed the contract, and looked at Jasmine with a rare, soft expression.
“Are you sure Silas will agree to these terms?”
The contract stated the $600 million would be paid back over ten years.
For a family like the Thornes, that was nothing.
Jasmine didn’t answer. She just signed her name.
“Give me the account info for the loan sharks. I’ll transfer the money directly. Don’t worry; they won’t be coming back.”
Eleanor finally felt completely at ease.
“Jasmine, thank you for this.”
Jasmine sighed inwardly. “You’re welcome.”
Eleanor started to say something else.
Jasmine cut her off. “Where’s Dad?”
“He went to the office. I told him to rest, but he’s too worried about the company.”
Jasmine paused for a few seconds. “It’s time to bring Hugh home.”
Eleanor immediately became defensive. “Why? This money has nothing to do with your brother. You aren’t expecting him to pay it back, are you?”
Jasmine was speechless for a long time.
“Dad’s health isn’t what it used to be. Hugh is the sole heir to the Thorne family; it’s time he came home and shared the burden.”
She emphasized the words “sole heir” so Eleanor wouldn’t miss the point.
Eleanor, thinking Jasmine was finally being sensible, beamed.
“Hugh said he wanted to come back. I’ll talk to him and see if he’s ready. But he’s used to his freedom; I don’t want to trap him in an office too soon. No rush, we’ll take it slow.”
A faint pang of sorrow washed over Jasmine.

In this house, the difference between how Eleanor treated her biological son and her adopted daughter was always night and day.
“Jasmine, you’re our daughter too. You need to stay involved with the family business.”
Involved?
She probably meant she wanted more money in the future.
Jasmine hid the pain. “Mother, I truly feel for you.”
Eleanor didn’t understand. “What do you mean?”
