Jasmine smiled and didn’t reply.

That guy could never stay serious for more than three seconds.

Around noon, Sierra sent over a message confirming the task was done. Jasmine looked at the attached photo and smiled. She was dying to see the look on Silas’s face when he came home tonight and saw this diagnostic report.

Madeline and Victoria didn’t return until evening, which allowed Margaret to safely bring Jasmine her meals throughout the day. Jasmine didn’t go hungry for a single second. This so-called confinement was really just a convenient excuse for her to get some peace.

Jasmine spent the rest of the day compiling the profiles of several tech elites who had joined Silas’s company because of her connections. Once everything was organized, she forwarded the file to Ethan.

Ethan sent back a brief reply.

[Received.]

Jasmine had just finished clearing her chat history when her bedroom door was flung open without so much as a courtesy knock.

Silas walked in, bringing with him the distinct scent of alcohol. As he approached, the smell grew heavier, causing Jasmine to instinctively knit her brows in distaste.

Silas sat down on the edge of the bed and loosened his collar. “Jasmine.”

Jasmine remained silent, simply watching him. She couldn’t help but feel that he had been acting incredibly strange the past few days. Honestly, she preferred it when he used to treat her like she was invisible.

Silas reached out, his hand brushing against her cheek as he looked at her with an unreadable expression. “In the future… try not to upset Grandma so much.”

From the looks of it, Madeline had clearly cornered him to talk.

“Grandma came by my office at noon today,” Silas continued. “She brought up the two of us.”

Jasmine asked, “And?”

“She thinks there’s no point in us continuing this marriage.”

Jasmine’s face remained entirely unbothered. “And how did you answer her?”

Silas offered a cryptic smile. “Take a guess.”

“I have no idea.”

1/3 Silas pinched her cheek, his tone turning dictatorial. “Guess. I want to see if my own wife can actually read

Guess your ass, Jasmine thought.

Aloud, she said, “If Grandma insists on a divorce, I imagine you’ll go through with it.”

Silas narrowed his eyes slightly. “You’re that certain?”

Jasmine deflected flawlessly, her response the very picture of understanding and consideration. “Grandma is the head of the family, after all. Even you have your hands tied sometimes. I understand that, and I don’t want to make things difficult for you. If you want a divorce, I’ll agree to it.”,

“And leave with absolutely nothing?” Silas countered.

Jasmine felt a cold pang of realization.

So they really were planning to kick her out without a single dime.

Keeping her composure, she replied smoothly, “If that’s what you want.”

A tender smile graced Silas’s lips. “How did I never realize before what a generous, considerate person you are?”

“Because you never bothered to actually look at me.”

Silas took Jasmine’s hand in his, running his fingers over her slender, delicate hands as if he couldn’t bear to let go.

“Well,” Silas murmured, “I plan on looking at you very closely from now on.”

A sudden chill ran through Jasmine. “What is that supposed to mean?”

A flicker of deep distaste crossed Silas’s face.

“Grandma might be the head of the family, but she doesn’t get to dictate my personal life,” he said. “If 1 refuse to comply, she wouldn’t dare push me too far. After all… her favorite grandson is already dead.”

A sudden chill ran down Jasmine’s spine.

There was something deeply unsettling, almost sinister, about Silas tonight.

“Jasmine,” Silas murmured, continuing to play with her fingers, “Grandma always favored Julian. She was biased to the point that if Julian and I ever liked the same thing, she would always force me to give it up to him.”

The retort ‘Does that include both of you falling for the Sterling family heiress?’ nearly slipped out of Jasmine’s mouth.

“That’s why ‘giving up’ is what I despise most in this world,” Silas snarled. “And I’m getting sick and tired of her expecting me to jump whenever she barks an order.”
