“Grandma and Mom treat you like their own daughter, and they’ve taken wonderful care of both you and Leo. How can you still feel insecure?”
“No!” Felicity suddenly grabbed his hand. “The only thing I truly care about is how you feel about me, Silas.”
Silas glanced down at her fair fingers. They were beautiful, but they couldn’t compare to Jasmine’s. Even the touch lacked the softness and comfort of Jasmine’s hand.
Silas stiffened, quickly shaking the comparison from his mind.
Why was he thinking about that woman again? The one he truly loved was Felicity.
“Silas, I never wanted to break up you and Jasmine,” Felicity pleaded. “I just don’t want you to cast me aside. I’m so terrified that you’re only being good to me because I gave birth to Leo.”
Looking into her tear-filled eyes, Silas felt his annoyance fade, his heart softening despite himself.
“Alright, stop crying,” he said, wiping away her tears. “I’ve been too busy the last couple of days, so I haven’t spent enough time with you and the baby. I’ll make an effort to clear my schedule for you both in the future. Don’t overthink things. I’m not good to you just because you had Leo. It’s because you’re Felicity. After all, you’re…”
The woman he had once wanted to marry. But Silas found himself entirely unable to utter those words.
Felicity noticed he hadn’t said what she actually wanted to hear, and a wave of disappointment washed over her. “Is that really true?”
“Silas replied gently, “Silly girl, when have I ever lied to you?”
Felicity threw herself into his arms. “Hearing you say that makes me feel so much better, Silas.”
Patting her back soothingly, Silas murmured, “No more crying, alright? It’s bad for your eyes.”
Felicity nuzzled against his chest, her tone turning playful. “I don’t want to cry either. I can handle being mistreated by anyone else, but for some reason, I just can’t take it when it comes from you. Silas, do you think you’ve completely spoiled me?”
The next day, Jasmine stepped out of her room and saw Felicity sitting on the living room sofa.
To be honest, this woman hadn’t stayed quiet for a single moment of her postpartum recovery.
Jasmine had no intention of acknowledging her.
“Jasmine.”
Felicity called out, stopping her in her tracks.
Jasmine turned around to face her. “Something you need?”

Felicity stood up, her face a picture of deep regret.

I’m so sorry. I’m the one who kept the truth about Leo’s condition from Silas. Grandma and Victoria don t know anything about it either, so please don’t blame them.”
Jasmine felt physically sick. She wanted nothing more than to rip the ugly mask right off Felicity’s face.
But she couldn’t.
Losing her temper now would ruin everything.
Choosing silence instead, Jasmine simply turned to walk away.
“Oh, by the way, Jasmine,” Felicity added quickly. “Did Silas tell you? My parents are coming over today. They’ll be staying for dinner tonight.”
Unfazed, Jasmine offered a faint, polite smile.
“They’re welcome anytime.”
Felicity paused. She genuinely couldn’t read this woman at all.
Unwilling to back down, she pressed on. “Jasmine, you…”
“Felicity.” Jasmine cut her off, unable to listen to any more of it. “There’s no one else here. You can drop the act. Doesn’t doing this every single day get exhausting?”
Jasmine, what are you talking about? I don’t follow.”
Jasmine stepped closer, a mocking smile playing on her lips.
“You’re the one who sent me that photo, aren’t you?”
Felicity froze.
“What photo? Jasmine, I really have no idea what you mean.”
A cynical smirk curled up the corner of Jasmine’s mouth.
“Deny it all you want; it doesn’t matter. I honestly don’t care what happened between you and my husband. Because as long as I’m around, you’ll never be anything more than the other woman. After all, I’m the one Silas legally married. And you? Everyone knows you’re his brother’s widow.”
Felicity’s expression began to sour.
She was right. Felicity had sent that photo.
She had deliberately arranged for someone to photograph her checking into a hotel with Silas, solely to provoke Jasmine. She wanted Jasmine to realize that Silas didn’t love her.
But to Felicity’s absolute shock, the photo had vanished without a trace, failing to stir up even a ripple of
