Chapter 79 Hand It Over!

For once in her life, Chloe actually managed to be smart. Jasmine genuinely had no intention of lying

She recounted exactly what had happened from start to finish. “I did slap her once, and I did lock her in that room. But I have absolutely no idea what happened after that.”

Seeing the doubt in Silas’s eyes made Jasmine’s heart sink. “Whether you believe me or not, I’m telling th

truth. Silas…”

“Enough!” Silas roared. “We’ve spoiled Chloe since she was a little girl. She is the pride and joy of the Vance family! Who gave you the right to lay a hand on her and lock her away in a freezing room? Jasmine, what the hell is wrong with you?”

Jasmine swallowed her bitterness. “Silas, do you even care that your sister provoked me first? She came looking for trouble! If she hadn’t pushed me over and over again, I never would have done it!”

“She’s just a child!” Silas barked. “If she did something wrong, you should have told me and let me handle her education!”

Jasmine let out a cold laugh. “If you actually knew how to raise her, she wouldn’t act like a complete toddler at twenty-four!”

Silas’s eyes narrowed dangerously. “Who are you calling a toddler?”

Refusing to back down, Jasmine shot right back, “Your sister, Chloe! And you! Every time something happens, you lose your mind and completely throw logic out the window. You ignore right and wrong. blame me for everything, and blindly protect your family. You don’t even have the basic judgment of a normal human being. If that isn’t acting like a complete toddler, I don’t know what is!”

Furious, Silas raised his hand.

Jasmine didn’t even flinch. “I dare you to hit me! I’m telling you right now, Silas, if you touch me today, 1 swear to God we are done forever, and I will make your life a living hell.”

“A living hell? Bold words!”

Madeline’s sharp voice cut through the room as she hurried inside. The moment she saw her granddaughter’s face swollen up like a balloon, she gasped in pure anguish. Chloe immediately threw herself into Madeline’s arms, dissolving into another fit of hysterical tears.

Madeline glared at Jasmine, her eyes burning with pure hatred. “Jasmine, our family has treated you incredibly well, and this is how you repay us? You couldn’t even leave Chloe alone!”

Victoria chimed in from the sidelines. “I never realized you were so vicious. Chloe is so sweet and innocent, yet you still managed to lay your hands on her! Jasmine, you are absolutely venomous!”

“Silas!” Madeline barked, pointing a finger directly at his face. “Have you completely lost your mind? You saw with your own eyes how cruel and cold-blooded this woman is to your sister! Why are you still keeping her around?”

Victoria struck while the iron was hot. “Silas, open your eyes! This woman is nothing but trouble Can you really stand by and watch her bully your sister like this? Chloe accidentally ruins her dress strap, and she retaliates with this kind of brutality? What’s next? Is she going to take your sister’s life?”

“And another thing!” Victoria demanded, holding out her hand. “Where is the necklace my son bought at the auction tonight? Hand it over!”

Jasmine wanted to laugh. Her daughter was in this state, yet Victoria still had the mental bandwidth to obsess over a piece of jewelry.

Fortunately, Jasmine had possessed some foresight. She had felt all along that the necklace wouldn’t stay around her neck for long, so she had already taken it off and left it with the hotel for safekeeping.

Victoria lunged forward and snatched Jasmine’s bag, brutally dumping its contents all over the floor,

“Where is it?!” Victoria screamed. “Where did you hide it?”

A mocking smile played on Jasmine’s lips. “Shouldn’t your primary concern right now be your own daughter? It looks like Chloe’s well-being isn’t worth nearly as much to you as a necklace.”

Victoria grit her teeth. “Stop trying to change the subject, and don’t even think about driving a wedge between my daughter and me! Let me tell you something-you have no right to that necklace, and you certainly don’t deserve to wear something so valuable. Jasmine, give it to me!”

Jasmine completely ignored her.

Losing her patience, Victoria grabbed at Jasmine’s clothes, tearing at them. “Where is it?!”

Jasmine shoved her away. “Enough! Is putting your hands on people a genetic trait in the Vance family?”

That single sentence pushed Madeline over the edge.

“Bernard!”

Bernard was the family’s butler and Madeline’s personal driver. He had been with her for nearly twenty years, but fortunately, her toxic traits hadn’t rubbed off on him. Bernard had always been a steady, reliable man. He never took sides, kept his mouth shut, and simply went about his daily work in silence. Even when Madeline reprimanded him, he would just take it without a word, maintaining a presence so low he was almost invisible.

“Lock this woman up!” Madeline ordered.

Bernard hesitated, unsure whether he should actually lay hands on her.

“Do it now!” Madeline snapped.

Jasmine didn’t show a hint of fear.

“My apologies, Mrs. Vance,” Bernard murmured softly.
