Chapter 104
Darion spoke up, his voice calm and measured. “I was there when it happened.”
“What?” Trenton froze, then stood up quickly. “If you were there, why didn’t you stop Thalia?”
Darion’s gaze remained steady. “It was a misunderstanding on Miya’s part. That’s why Thalia reacted the way she did. You know how she is, Dad. If you push something on her that isn’t true, she’ll double down on it.”
Trenton’s face darkened further. “Even so, you should have stopped her! You can’t just let her hit someone.”
He turned angrily to Thalia. “Apologize to Miya.”
Thalia glanced at Darion, surprised to see him standing up for her. But inside, she felt nothing.
Her expression was flat as she responded, “If she’s dead, I’ll bow and bring her flowers.”
“Thalia!” Trenton’s voice was a low growl, full of restraint.
Miya, pale and tearful, suddenly burst into sobs. “I shouldn’t have come to this family. If my parents were still here, this wouldn’t have happened. No one would treat me like this.”
Her words struck Trenton like a knife to the chest. His heart ached as he looked at her.
He turned back to Thalia, his disappointment heavy in his eyes. “You… you wretched girl.”
But the words caught in his throat. No matter how much he yelled, it wouldn’t change anything.
Trenton sighed and turned back to Miya. “Miya, don’t cry. This is on her. I’m sorry for her. Don’t be upset. I’ve decided. I’m giving you 5% of the Coleman Group shares. When your mom and I are gone, the company will be yours.”
“I don’t agree!” Thalia’s calm mask cracked, her voice sharp. “She’s just an adopted daughter. Isn’t that a little too much?”
Trenton ignored her, focused entirely on Miya. “I’ll have the lawyer draft the papers. You just need to sign.”
Miya sobbed harder. “I don’t want it, Dad. That’s Lia’s inheritance, not mine.”
“She’s cutting ties with us. She won’t care,” Trenton said coldly.
Miya opened her mouth to speak but fell silent, unable to say anything more.
Thalia stepped right in front of Trenton, her brow furrowed as she stared at him. “Have you lost your mind? She’s just an adopted daughter.”
Darion’s expression showed some disapproval as well. “Trenton, don’t make any rash decisions. You can’t just throw around shares like this. It’s not something to take lightly.”
But Trenton stood firm. “I’m not joking. I’ve already made up my mind. The papers will be signed tomorrow.”
Thalia’s hand balled into a fist. Suddenly, it hit her. She understood what Trenton was doing.
He was using the company shares to force her into submission, to make her apologize to Miya.
If she didn’t back down, he would hand everything the Coleman family had over to Miya.

She bit down hard on her lip, feeling the sharp sting, but she didn’t let go. The pain wasn’t just physical. It tore at her heart
too.
Darion reached over and gently took her hand, his expression full of concern. “Stop biting your lip. You’re bleeding”
