Chapter 105

Chapter 105

Darion’s eyes narrowed as they fixed on her. “What are you getting at?”

Rising to her feet, Miya glanced briefly at Thalia before returning her gaze to Darion. “What if I told you it wasn’t her who saved you that day?”

Thalia let out an incredulous laugh. “Are you out of your mind? If it wasn’t me, what, you’re claiming it was you?”

Miya ignored her and focused on Darion, studying his expression, hoping to catch any hint of a reaction. But there was nothing.

Darion’s face remained calm and unreadable, his eyes betraying no emotion. It was impossible to tell what he was thinking.

Miya waited in silence, but when Darion didn’t respond, her patience began to wear thin. “It was me,” she blurted out. “I was the one who saved you.”

Her voice trembled slightly as she finished speaking, and she couldn’t help but anxiously watch Darion, her palms growing clammy.

She thought to herself, ‘If his feelings for Thalia were based on that life-saving moment, what would he think if the person who actually saved him was someone else? Would he feel like all these years of love had been misplaced?’

Thalia, shocked by her words, snapped. “That’s ridiculous!”

In an instant, she lunged toward Miya, furious and ready to lash out.

This was going too far.

The earthquake had struck without warning. Thalia had rushed outside but couldn’t find Darion anywhere. In her panic, she forgot all about fear and rushed back inside. Amid the chaos, she found Darion trapped under a heavy slab of stone.

She struggled to move it and pulled him out, but just as she did, the stone came crashing down, hitting them both and knocking them unconscious.

Now, Miya was claiming that she had saved Darion. It was absurd.

Trenton stepped in, blocking Thalia and sternly scolding her, “Can you be more sensible? Your mother is still unconscious!”

Thalia scoffed. “Didn’t you hear what she said? She wasn’t even at the event. How could she have been there?”

Miya calmly replied, “I went. Mom and Dad were worried about you going alone, so they sent me to watch over you. I didn’t stay with you because I knew you didn’t want me there.”

She turned to Darion and continued, “When the earthquake hit, she was still so young. There’s no way she had the strength to move the stone. It was me who moved the stone and saved you.”

Trenton was taken aback, his eyes wide. “Why didn’t you say anything before?”

Miya shrugged slightly. “Saving people just felt like the right thing to do. I didn’t think it needed to be mentioned.”

“It’s impossible,” Thalia interrupted, shaking her head. “You’re lying. It was me, not you.”

Miya looked at her with a complicated expression. “Lia, I’ve never held anything against you all these years. But if you’re using this ‘life-saving moment to manipulate Darion and get away with whatever you want, then I don’t see why I should stay quiet anymore.”

Trenton’s face hardened, and he shot a disappointed look at Thalia. “You’ve been bullying Miya all this time, and now you’re even trying to take credit for saving Darion? What else have you done? I’m really disappointed in you.”
