Chapter 106

The moment he spoke, everyone froze, caught off guard by his words.

Trenton raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised. “Darion, didn’t you hear what Miya just said?”

Darion absentmindedly stroked the back of Thalia’s hand with his thumb before turning to Trenton. “Trenton, it’s getting late. Now isn’t the time for this conversation. I’ll take Thalia back to rest, and we can visit Shyla in the morning.”

He then glanced at Miya, his eyes darkening slightly. “You left in a hurry. Where’s Keith?”

Miya opened her mouth, at a loss for words for a moment.

After everything she had said, he was only asking about Keith.

But now, she couldn’t afford to react too strongly. She took a deep breath and replied, “When I left, Keith was already asleep.

Darion’s voice remained calm. “You should head back. If Keith wakes up and doesn’t see you, he’ll get scared. He’s only three. He needs you.”

Miya bit her lip, her voice trembling slightly. “But… my mom is still unconscious.”

“Standing here won’t change that. It’ll only disturb her.” His tone had cooled.

A cold, unspoken tension surrounded him, and the atmosphere seemed to freeze, making it clear no one could argue.

Darion took Thalia’s hand and led her out of the room.

This time, she didn’t resist.

A flicker of something cold and complicated passed through Darion’s eyes, but it vanished just as quickly.

Thalia believed with all her heart that she was the one who saved Darion. But she couldn’t fully trust him.

He was kind to Miya and to her child. What if he doubted the sacrifices she made for him? What would she do then?

The cool night air brushed against her skin as they stepped out of the hospital, sending a chill through her that made her

shiver.

The car was parked right at the entrance of the hospital.

Darion opened the passenger door and looked at her. “Get in.”

Thalia hesitated for a moment, her gaze fixed on him, filled with a mix of emotions.

Once he was in, she spoke, her voice tight with restraint. “Do you really believe what she said?”

Darion started the car, his tone calm and distant. “We’ll find out once we look into it.”

“Darion!” Thalia’s voice broke, her eyes wide with disbelief. “You want to investigate this? You think I’m lying?”

Darion glanced at her briefly. “If you’re not lying, then what’s the problem?”

“It’s not about being scared. It’s about being disappointed.” Thalia corrected him, her voice growing thicker. “How could you not believe me? How could you want to check? We’re both part of this. Didn’t I save you? Don’t you remember?”
