I Divorced You Now You Beg (Thalia and Darion) novel Chapter 12

Chapter 12 Play Both Sides

In the end, Thalia lost consciousness.

Semi-conscious, she felt someone lift her up and lay her on a soft, warm bed; gentle hands were tending to her injured knee.

The pain made her gasp sharply, and tears spilled from her closed eyes unbidden.

“Darion, it hurts so much…” Thalia murmured, her voice weak and trembling.

She’d clung to the delusion that nothing had changed. Even a small scratch would make him feel sorry and hurry to her, and she’d lean into him, being playful and clingy, like they always did.

She’d grown so used to that little routine they shared.

In her dream, Darion held her tightly, pressing soft kisses to her eyes and brows, his voice gentle as he soothed her.

Tears rolled down her cheeks, and he kissed each one away, tender and patient.

But she cried harder, fisting his collar, her sobs choking her. “Why are you so kind to Miya? I hate her. I really do. You should hate her too, but you’ve changed.

“You love her now. You went to her when she had the baby… Darion, I don’t want you anymore.”

Lost in a blurry dream, Thalia sobbed until she had no energy left, then finally blacked out completely.

The next morning, Thalia woke to find herself in her own room. She sat up, staring at her bandaged knee. Clearly, someone had taken care of it, gently and carefully.

She blinked, a moment of confusion washing over her, before the memories of last night came crashing back. It hadn’t been a dream.

She closed her eyes, a bitter thought echoing in her mind: ‘What’s the point of all this?

‘First, he stood by and watched me kneel in punishment, and now he’s suddenly acting like he cares?

‘It’s like him, always trying to straddle the line between Miya and me. Are all men this good at playing both sides?’

When Thalia opened her eyes again, all softness was gone, replaced by an icy sharpness. She got out of bed and headed to the bathroom to wash up.

As she stepped out of the bedroom, the sound of cheerful laughter and conversation drifted up from downstairs.

“Darry, can you be my dad?” The sweet, innocent voice of a child rang out.

Sandra chuckled. “Well, Keith, you really like Darry, huh?”

“Yep,” Keith nodded seriously. “I want him to be my dad, and I want him to stay with Mom forever.”

Miya hurriedly chided him. “Keith, you shouldn’t talk like that. Thalia will be hurt if she hears that.”

But Sandra merely brushed it aside. “What’s wrong with that? It’s just a kid’s words. If she actually gets mad over this, it only proves how petty she is.”

Thalia stood by the railing, staring down at the warm, laughing scene below.

Keith sat on Darion’s lap, with Miya right beside them. They already looked like a perfect little family.

Thalia took out her phone, captured the scene, and uploaded it to Instagram.

Thalia: [Let’s congratulate them on finally forming their happy family! Cheers!]

Her Instagram post triggered an immediate uproar among her friends, but Thalia didn’t bother checking her phone.

She marched straight downstairs, heading for the door without hesitation.

“Stop right there!” Sandra’s voice thundered. “You ill-bred girl. Have you no respect for your elders, least of all me?”

Thalia glanced back, her voice cold and unfeeling. “When you pass away, I’ll make sure to visit your grave.” “You!” Sandra’s fury boiled over, her face darkening with anger.
