Chapter 124
Miya paused for a moment and glanced around the dining room, and then she spotted Thalia sitting by the window
Thalia was having dinner with a man.
Miya raised an eyebrow slightly, then followed behind Darion as he walked over.
Thalia had already noticed him, but she pretended she hadn’t.
She kept her eyes lowered and continued eating in silence.
Darion called out casually as he approached. “Matthew.”
He walked right up and sat down at the table next to theirs, greeting Matthew like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Matthew turned around, clearly caught off guard. “Oh hey, you’re eating here too? And who’s this little guy?”
He had noticed Keith in Darion’s arms.
Darion answered in a flat tone. “My older brother’s kid.”
Keith gave Matthew a polite little wave. “Hi!”
Then Keith turned to look at Thalia. He seemed a little nervous, but he still worked up the courage to greet her. “Hi, Thalia“
Matthew couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
Darion frowned and corrected the boy. “You can’t be that formal. You call me Darry, so you should call her Tally.”
Keith didn’t quite understand why, but he nodded obediently. “Hi, Tally!”
Thalia glanced at him coolly. “Not scared of me anymore?”
Keith instinctively shrank back into Darion’s arms.
Darion gave her a look. “Stop scaring the kid.”
Thalia let out a cold, quiet laugh.
She turned to Matthew and gestured toward the three of them at the next table. “Look at them. Don’t they look like a little farnily?
Matthew actually studied them for a moment, then nodded. “Yeah, they kinda do.”
Darion shot him an icy glare. “You got a death wish?”
Matthew laughed it off. “Look at you guys. The three of you walking around outside would totally get mistaken for a family And this kid looks so much like you. If you didn’t say he was your nephew, everyone would think he’s yours
Darion cut him off with a frown. “Alright, that’s enough. You’re getting carried away”
He set Keith down on the chair and turned back toward Thalia. “Why are you two together?”
Thalia’s response came back sharp and immediate. “None of your damn business.”

Matthew gave her a silent thumbs-up from across the table.
Miya hurried to explain from the side. “Thalia, don’t get the wrong idea. Darion and I just ran into each other”
Thalia’s tone remained ice-cold. “I don’t give a damn.”
Miya flushed with embarrassment, completely at a loss for what to say next.
Darion fixed his gaze on Thalia, his eyes unreadable and impossible to decipher. When he finally spoke, his voice was deceptively calm. “You don’t feel even a shred of guilt?”
Thalia’s expression turned frigid, and then a mocking smile spread across her face. “Nope. Why? You gonna kill me over it?”
Whenever Darion and Thalia were in the same room, the tension between them became almost suffocating.
Matthew jumped in before things could escalate. “Hey, murder’s a felony, okay? Both of you, cool it. You’ve been married for eight years. Can’t you at least try to be civil?”
Darion ignored Matthew entirely. His eyes stayed locked on Thalia, burning with an intensity that looked like it could swallow her whole.
Thalja had lost her appetite. She set down her fork and looked at Matthew. “I’m heading out. Just reach out to me directly when you’re ready.”
Matthew nodded. “Sure thing.”
Thalia stood up and walked away, her steps quick and deliberate, as though she were trying to escape someone.
Matthew turned to say something to Darion, but Darion was already on his feet, following right after her.
Matthew raised an eyebrow, then shrugged and turned back to his meal, eating at his own unhurried pace.
Miya chose that moment to speak up. “You just got back to the country. How do you know Thalia? If I remember right, you manage a whole team of lawyers. Is she asking you to handle her divorce case?”
