Chapter 136
Thalia didn’t push it. The earrings didn’t have to go out today.
She nodded Fine. I’ll take the time off once this project wraps up.”
Wesley’s expression eased slightly. He turned to the supervisor. “Where’s Miya? She’s not here yet?”
The supervisor sighed. “She called in sick this morning. Said she wasn’t feeling well.”
Wesley’s brow creased again. “What a headache.”
Is she trying to tick off management on purpose?’ Thalia wondered.

‘Does she really think she can slack off just because Darion has her back?’ she thought. ‘If she can’t take the job seriously, why bother showing up at all?’
She shook her head and returned to her desk.
Her phone buzzed almost immediately. She glanced at the screen and saw Trenton’s name.
She picked up. “Hello?”
Trenton’s voice came through the phone. “I talked to your mom, and she said none of this ever happened. Thalia, you’ll do anything to get what you want. Bring the sapphire over right now, or the share transfer stops.”
Thalia frowned. She thought, ‘How could that not be true?’
‘My grandma told me herself,” Thalia said. “How could it be fake? Maybe mom just got it wrong.”
Trenton scoffed, “Why would your mom lie? Look, I don’t want to hear it. Either bring me the sapphire or forget about the shares. Your choice.”
Then he hung up.
Thalia’s grip tightened on the phone, and her lips pressed together.
She stood up and walked to the balcony, pulling out her phone to call Diana.
The phone rang three times before someone picked up. An elderly voice came through the speaker. “Hello?”
‘Grandma, it’s me.” Thalia said softly.
Diana’s tone brightened immediately. “Oh, Thalia! What a lovely surprise.”
Thalia took a deep breath and got to the point. “Grandma, I need to ask you something. Do you remember the sapphire earrings?”
‘Of course I remember.” Diana’s voice turned wistful. “Your grandfather gave them to me. I lost them years ago.”
Thalia pressed on. “Did you ever tell Mom about losing them?”
“I did,” Diana confirmed. “I even asked her to keep an eye out and let me know if she heard anything.”
Thalia’s hand tightened around her phone. ‘Shyla is lying! Why would she lie?’ she thought.

Chapter 136
Diana’s voice sounded urgent Thalia, did you find the earrings? Where are they?”
Thalia answered, “I found them. I’ll bring them over once I’m done with work.”
Diana sounded pleased. That’s wonderful! You’re so capable, Thalia.”
She chatted with Diana for a few more minutes and then hung up.
