I Divorced You Now You Beg (Thalia and Darion) novel Chapter 17

Chapter 17 The Medical Reports

Thalia went on a rampage in the living room, smashing vases and throwing things around like she’d lost her mind.

She sank down in the middle of the mess, her eyes vacant and lifeless, void of any emotion.

Suddenly, she got up, stumbled toward the liquor cabinet, grabbed every bottle there, and drank them one by

one.

The alcohol numbed her nerves, and soon she was completely wasted, her vision blurred and her mind foggy. For a moment, she let herself pretend this was all a terrible nightmare.

When she woke up, everything would be back to normal, to the days when they were madly in love, and to when his eyes only ever looked at her.

She had no idea how long she’d been passed out when her phone’s blaring ringtone jolted her awake. “Hello?” She picked it up and mumbled groggily.

“Mrs. Blackburn, your and Mr. Blackburn’s check-up results are ready. When would you prefer to collect them, or should we send them to your address?” the voice from the medical check-up center asked.

Thalia’s head throbbed relentlessly. “Just send them,” she muttered.

After ending the call, she sat up slowly, her gaze sweeping over the shattered mess around her, and her face was blank.

She arranged for the maid to come clean up the mess, then went upstairs to take a shower.

She murmured to herself, ‘It isn’t a bad dream. All of this is really happening. I have to face reality now.’

The medical reports arrived soon.

Thalia stood in the entryway, tearing open the package roughly, then scanned her own report. Everything was normal.

A bitter, mocking smile tugged at her lips.

She and Darion had been married for four years. For the first two, they’d focused solely on each other, so she’d been on birth control.

But then, Keith was born. Miya constantly called and Darion was always being pulled away, and Thalia started wondering if maybe having a kid of her own would make him focus on their family again.

But after two years of trying, even secretly taking traditional remedies, she still couldn’t get pregnant.

This time, she’d begged Darion to go for a full check-up with her, to find out what was wrong.

If there was a problem, she’d try IVF.

They’d gone a month before their anniversary, and now the results were in, too late to matter.

Thalia almost laughed at the timing.

But when she opened Darion’s report and read the words on the page, the color drained from her face little by little, leaving her ashen.

“He… had a vasectomy?” Thalia whispered, each word heavy, as if forced out of her throat.

Her hands trembled violently, and a cold shake wracked her entire body.

She couldn’t tear her eyes away from the report, reading those words over and over again, and even rubbing her eyes roughly, as if that would make them disappear. But the black ink on the white paper was impossible to deny.

“Hahaha…” Thalia laughed, the sound shaky and bitter. As the laughter tumbled out, tears streamed down her cheeks.

‘It’s beyond ironic, Thalia thought, the words echoing in her mind.

Chapter 17 The Medical Reports

‘I even foolishly believed that having a child could tie his heart to mine. How absurd. He never even planned to have a child with me at all.

‘Eight years. Eight damn years. Did we ever really love each other? Did we ever really love each other?’

All the beliefs Thalia had clung to were falling apart, one shard at a time. She collapsed to the floor, her eyes fixed on that single line in the report, numb and motionless.

After an endless stretch of silence, she pulled out her phone and called Wendy.

“Hey, Thalia, sweetie,” Wendy answered.

Thalia’s voice was raw and hoarse. “Could you help find Darion? Tell me where he is.”
