Chapter 20 The Only Way Out
Darion’s hand stilled as he dried Thalia’s hair.
A flicker of panic flashed across his eyes, but it vanished in an instant. He composed himself quickly, his voice feigning tenderness. “Thalia, don’t overthink this. I got the vasectomy because I don’t want you to suffer
“I saw how Miya struggled through childbirth, and I never want you to go through that pain.”
Thalia closed her eyes in despair.
If he’d told her this a month ago, she might have fallen for it and might have melted at his supposed care.
But now, after weeks of watching him prioritize Miya and Keith, after uncovering the truth of his secret, his explanation sounded nothing but empty.
Now, with the vasectomy revelation, there was only one thought in her mind: Darion had done this for Miya and Keith, not for her.
The hair dryer hummed monotonously in the background, and Thalia’s voice cut through it. “Divorce,”
Darion didn’t pause. His long fingers moved gently through her hair, drying each strand with careful, deliberate motions.
Thalia’s hands curled into fists, her knuckles whitening.
She wondered, ‘How does he keep up this pretense of being kind, of loving me, after he’s shattered every part of me? Doesn’t he ever get tired of putting on this act? But I do!
She snatched the hair dryer from his hand in one swift movement, her gaze icy and unflinching. “I said divorce!”
The hair dryer slipped from her hand, clattering to the floor.
A vein pulsed at Darion’s temple, his sharp features darkening with anger, the last of his patience snapping. “I’ ve done everything for you, and you’re still determined to fight me?”
“Son of a bitch, fuck off!” Thalia snapped.
She’d reached her limit, the curse escaping before she could stop it.
She was drained, heartbroken, with no strength left to argue, only a hollow ache where her love for him used to be.
‘He made his choice long ago. How can he still lie and say it’s all for me?’ Thalia thought bitterly.
Darion’s gaze fixed on her, a dangerous glint in his dark eyes.
He leaned down slightly, his posture towering and intimidating, his presence suffocating.
“Is divorce the only way?” he asked, his tone icy and threatening.
“Yes,” Thalia replied briefly, her eyes red with anger. Divorce was the only thing she wanted, the only way out.
Darion fell silent, his jaw clenched tight. He turned sharply and strode out.
The door slammed behind him, a harsh echo that matched the shattering of their last remaining connection.
At the door, Jason was holding a cup of hot coffee, his hand hovering over the doorframe, about to knock, when the loud slam made him jump. He almost spilled the tea all over.
“Darion, is Thalia alright?” Jason asked worriedly.
Darion exuded an aura of suppressed anger, his eyes dark and cold. He was still drenched, water trickling down his neck as he ran a hand through his wet hair, his jaw set in a tight line.
“She’s doing great. Even still got the energy to cause trouble,” he said coldly,
Jason opened his mouth to say something, but he bit it back.
Darion was in a foul mood, and anything he said now would only make things worse, adding fuel to the fire.
Jason hesitated, holding the hot coffee. “What should I do with this?”

“Alright,” Jason said, nodding.
But before he could reach the door, Darion’s hand shot out, gripping his shoulder firmly. “Send a woman in instead.”
Jason blinked, then quickly caught on, nodding eagerly. “Sure.”
He flagged down a random woman, handing her the hot coffee. “Watch over Thalia and make sure she finishes this. If she doesn’t, you’ll have to deal with the consequences.”
The woman just stared, wide-eyed and speechless.
Thalia sat on the edge of the bed, lost in a daze, her face ghostly pale, her body limp. She was simply like a delicate doll stripped of all life.
The woman walked in and said, “Here’s some hot coffee for you. Have it, it’ll chase away the cold and prevent you from getting sick.”
Thalia’s gaze shifted slowly to the woman, her voice so quiet it was almost inaudible. “Thank you.”
She took the cup, and drank every last drop of it in one swallow.
The woman sighed quietly in relief, whispered “Have a good rest,” and slipped out of the room.
Thalia got up, took a hot shower, and then left the club without a single word.
She slipped out silently, returned home, and sat there all night, staring blankly at the medical reports scattered
across the table.
When dawn broke, she gathered her divorce paperwork, tucked it into her bag, and headed straight for the
courthouse.
But by ten o’clock that morning, Darion still hadn’t shown up.
