Thalia: [I don’t think that’s the case.]

Clinton: [But I’ve never run into so much trouble before. Ever since I met Mr. Blackburn, my life has just been one disaster after another.]
Clinton: [When are you free? Can we meet up? If it really is Mr. Blackburn behind all this, maybe you could try talking to him?]
Thalia’s fingers curled slightly as she hesitated. Just then, the elevator announced overhead, “Now arriving at the first floor.”
Thalia quickly turned off her phone and slipped it into her pocket.
The car pulled up to the front entrance, and the driver opened the door with a respectful gesture.
“Mr. Blackburn, Mrs. Blackburn,” the driver greeted.
“Mm. Darion responded calmly.
Darion replied in a mild tone, letting Thalia get in first, then got into the car from the other side.
Thalia gazed out the window, her face colder than usual.
Darion said, “There’s a dinner party in a few days. You have to come with me.”
Thalia refused flatly, “I’m not going.”
Darion replied in a cool tone, “Either you go to the dinner party, or you stay locked up at home. Your call.”
Seriously?’ Thalia thought, at a loss for words.
If I had a knife right now, I’d totally stab him,’ Thalia fumed, grinding her teeth.
Threats. That’s all you know how to do,” Thalia shot back with a cold laugh.
Darion let out a helpless sigh, his expression resigned. “If I don’t, you never listen to me.”
Thalia’s face was icy. “What’s the point? The more you act like this, the more I hate you.”
Darion’s expression darkened.
She kept telling him, over and over, that she hated him, that she didn’t like him.
He hated hearing it.
But this cycle seemed impossible to break, like they were stuck in a never-ending loop.
No matter how hard either of them tried, they just couldn’t break out of this vicious cycle.
He gave her a long, weighted look. “So, have you made your choice?”
“Staying home and resting sounds pretty good to me, Thalia said, her tone icy. She had absolutely no intention of going to any event with him.

As if they were still some loving couple.
What a joke
Darion felt his emotions churning violently inside, an urge to do something almost overwhelming him.
“Alright,” he said in a calm voice. “I won’t go either. I’ll stay home with you.”
‘I’ll go to the dinner party!” Thalia snapped.
God knows what he’ll do if I stay home with him,’ Thalia thought, her heart pounding.
This man is so damn infuriating!’ Thalia fumed inwardly.
Darion saw Thalia finally give in, but it didn’t make him feel any better. He turned away, staring out the window with an icy, distant look in his eyes.
Just then, his phone buzzed.
It was a message from the bodyguard who was keeping an eye on Thalia behind the scenes.
[Mr. Blackburn, Thalia went to Maplewood Estate today. Security was way too strict, we couldn’t get inside. She was there for about an hour before she left.]
Darion stared at the message, his eyes turning icy as a chill spread through him.
Why did she suddenly go to that place?
What was she doing there?’ he asked himself, suspicion gnawing at him.
Darion fixed his gaze on her, eyes deep and searching, like he was trying to see straight through her.
