Chapter 236
‘Cough 1-I’m fine.. Matthew barely managed to get the words out.
He shot Thalia a look and tried to give her a weak smile.
But his face was wet with spilled liquor, his eyes bloodshot, and he looked like a total mess.
‘He doesn’t look fine at all, Thalia thought.

Thalia was furious. She jerked her head up to glare at Darion. “Are you insane? How could you let this happen to him?”
Darion lounged on the couch, one leg crossed over the other, a delicate glass in his hand. From the moment Thalia walked in, his gaze never left her. He listened to her accusation, meeting her furious eyes.
He smirked. “He wanted to drink. I didn’t force him.”
‘You’re shameless!” Thalia shot back.
He seriously claims he didn’t force him?’ Thalia fumed, barely able to contain her anger.
Just a minute ago, those two bodyguards were making Matthew chug drink after drink. He nearly drank himself to death.
Thalia helped Matthew onto the couch, handed him some tissues, then shot Darion a glare. “If you have a problem, come at me. Don’t drag innocent people into your mess.”
‘Come at you? How could I ever bring myself to do that? Hurting you is the last thing I’d want,” Darion replied coolly, setting his glass down. “And besides, he’s not as innocent as you think.”
Thalia suddenly recalled the things Darion had said in the CEO’s private lounge, and she felt a cold dread spreading through
her.
“Thalia, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me…” Matthew’s breathing steadied as he gently tugged at her sleeve.
How could I not be worried about him?’ Thalia thought, her heart aching.
You should go to the hospital and get checked out. I’ll go with you,” she said, her voice full of concern.
Matthew shook his head. “I’ve been working with the Blackburn Group lately, and one of my subordinates got caught doing something shady. I came here personally to apologize.”
“You hear that? I didn’t force him,” Darion said, regarding her with a cool, meaningful gaze. “Come here, Thal.”
But Thalia ignored him, turning to Matthew instead. “Did you drink it all?”
Matthew’s gaze drifted to the coffee table.
There were still three bottles of high-proof liquor sitting there.
If he drank all of that, he’d definitely end up in the hospital.
Thalia slowly straightened up, her gaze sharp and wary. She didn’t believe for a second that Darion wasn’t plotting against Matthew.
Matthew had helped her with the divorce, and now Darion was determined to make him pay for it.

Chapter 236
He was just grabbing any excuse to mess with him.
Bottom line, Matthew was suffering because of her.
So how could I let him go through this alone?’ Thalia thought, her resolve hardening.

Thalia shot Darion a frosty look. “If he finishes all these bottles, will you stop holding his subordinate responsible”
Since he’d made up an excuse, she’d use it to deal with him on his own terms.
Darion’s eyes darkened. “Thal, what are you trying to do?”
Thalia pulled her lips into a thin line, staring at him. “Answer my question.”
Darion stayed silent. His face grew even darker, his brows drawing together and casting a shadow over his expression, the air around him turning icy cold.
Matthew, as if he knew exactly what she was about to do, quickly said, “Thalia, don’t be stupid.”
Thalia turned to him, gave him a small smile, and said, “Sorry.”
Her apology was sincere.
She really had dragged him into this.
Without a second thought, Thalia picked up a bottle of high-proof liquor and drank straight from the mouth, not even bothering with a glass.
Darion suddenly sprang to his feet, snatched the bottle out of Thalia’s hand, and hurled it to the floor. The glass exploded. iquor splattering everywhere.
Have you lost your mind?! You’re sick, and you still want to drink?” Darion seized her wrist and pulled her right in front of
Thalia’s lashes quivered as she asked, “Is that enough? Can you let what his subordinate did slide now?”
