I Divorced You Now You Beg (Thalia and Darion) novel Chapter 26

Chapter 26 A Deadened Heart

Thalia was speechless, wondering with a frown, ‘Seriously? What a coincidence. The family doctor is out of town right when Darion gets injured?’

She cast a glance at Darion, who leaned against the doorframe, his face pale, and said, “Maybe it’s time we find a new family doctor.”

‘What’s the point of having a family doctor if he can’t be on call 24/7? His whole job is to keep the Blackburn family safe.’ Thalia thought.

“Fine,” Darion murmured, then coughed softly, his complexion turning even paler.

Thalia was genuinely worried he might actually die, because if he died, she feared she’d never get the divorce done.

She stood up, her face cold and striking, and walked toward him.

Darion’s tall figure staggered a little, trailing slowly behind her.

Thalia, growing impatient, marched over, grabbed his arm, slung it over her shoulder, and guided him toward the bed.

Darion turned to look at her. Her jaw was tight, her gaze cast down a little, her long lashes fluttering now and then.

“Thalia, you still care about me, don’t you?” he suddenly asked, his voice rough but softer than before, a hint of hope in his tone.

Thalia helped him sit on the edge of the bed, standing over him with no warmth in her eyes. “I only don’t want you to die.”

Darion tilted his head back, his gaze locking onto hers. “If I died, wouldn’t that fix everything? No need for a divorce. You’d be totally free.”

Thalia opened the first aid kit, her voice steady as stone. “Darion, I loved you for eight years. You hurt me more times than I can count, but that doesn’t erase the fact that I loved you. I don’t want the man I once loved

to die.”

She spoke so calmly, like her heart had long gone numb. Only someone with a deadened heart could say such words so matter-of-factly.

“Turn around,” Thalia ordered.

Darion froze, a sharp ache squeezing his chest so tightly he could barely breathe.

“Thalia…” he whispered, his voice trembling.

His throat felt tight as he reached for her hand, clinging to a faint hope.

But Thalia pulled away, “I said, turn around.”

Darion slowly turned, his eyes cast downward, his throat parched. “I have no interest in that woman. I’m only taking care of Keith. That’s all,” he explained.

He repeated himself, as if saying it twice would make her believe him.

But Thalia stayed silent.

Thalia cleaned his injury, dressed it with fresh medication, then left the bedroom in silence.

His explanation didn’t move her in the slightest.

Maybe he hadn’t cared at first, but people grew attached. The longer they stayed together, the deeper their feelings became.

Besides, Keith had asked him to be his dad right in front of everyone, and Darion hadn’t refused.

‘Why didn’t he say no? Maybe deep down, that was what he’d wanted all along.’ Thalia thought.

Chapter 26 A Deadened Heart

Thalia forced a bitter smile, brushed a hand over her face, and walked firmly into the study.

She was ready to focus on her career, on herself, and from this moment on, prioritize no one but herself.

After three days of rest, Darion became much better.

His wounds had scabbed over and no longer held him back.

Monday finally arrived. Thalia stood in the living room with all the documents prepared, watching him walk
