“Diana!” Thalia’s voice was raw with panic as she caught Diana, but she nearly lost her balance. Darion steadied her, making sure neither of them went down.

His face grew even more serious. “We need to get Diana to the hospital.”

Without hesitation, he scooped Diana up in his arms and hurried outside. He got her into the car and sped off to the hospital as fast as he could.

Thalia’s face was ghostly pale the whole way, clutching Diana’s hand tightly. She was a mess, completely panicked.

Then she turned to Darion abruptly, her voice trembling as she demanded, “Did you do something to Diana?”

Darion’s grip on the steering wheel tightened, his face tense and grim.

He never thought she’d actually suspect him of something like that.

His lips pressed into a thin line, and he stayed silent, the air in the car growing so thick it was suffocating.

Thalia was really panicking now.

Diana had been fine just moments ago. How could she suddenly collapse like this?

Her mind was so frantic, she could only latch onto this possibility.

Darion stayed silent, and Thalia didn’t press him further. There was no point in asking now.

All she could do was pray desperately that Diana would be okay.

When they got to the hospital and rushed Diana into the ER, they anxiously waited for the test results. The news hit them hard. Diana had a tumor, a brain tumor.

The tumor was in a critical area, compressing her nerves, which explained why she suddenly collapsed.

The surgery was incredibly risky; one wrong move and Diana might not survive the operation.

Thalia’s knees buckled, and she almost fell.

Darion caught her by the arm, holding her steady.

He looked at the doctor and asked, “If we bring in the top brain specialist, will that help?”

“The chances would be better, but I can’t say for sure. We’ll have to wait until the expert gets here,” the doctor replied.

“Alright. I’ll bring them in. You all discuss the case together when they arrive,” Darion said, his voice low and firm.

Then Darion turned to Thalia and said, “Why don’t you sit down for a bit.”

That’s when Thalia finally realized she’d misjudged him. She looked down, not saying a word.

Darion watched her sink into the chair, her face ghostly pale. She looked utterly helpless.

“Thalia.”

Thalia’s lashes quivered, but she didn’t say a word.

Darion continued, his tone as calm as ever. “You’re my wife, and I’ll do everything I can to save Diana. But if we’re nothing to each other anymore…”

He left the rest unsaid.

But Thalia instantly understood what he meant.

If they had no connection, what reason would he have to help Diana?

Diana was Thalia’s grandmother, not his.

Thalia’s pupils contracted sharply as she looked up at him, disbelief written all over her face.

Her voice was hoarse. “Darion, are you threatening me with this?”
