Darion’s brows furrowed as his sharp gaze fixed on her. “So you only want the Coleman family to withdraw their investment?”

“That’s right, Thalia nodded. “If you’re determined to help her, I won’t stand in your way, but the Coleman family has to pull out.”

“Why aren’t you stopping me?” Darion’s tone was just as heavy.

An inexplicable tension spread between them.

Thalia frowned slightly. “Would you even listen if I tried to stop you?”

Darion’s lips pressed into a thin line as he stared at her for a long moment before finally asking. “Why do you want the Coleman family to withdraw their investment?”

“She’s just an adopted daughter. Why should she be entitled to the Coleman family’s money?” Thalia said bluntly.

Darion looked away. “Let’s eat first. After that, I’ll think about what you said.”

Thalia gave him a skeptical look. “You really need to think about something this straightforward?”

“So, Thalia, in what capacity are you talking to me about this?” Darion’s expression returned to its usual calm and warmth. “I only listen to my wife.”

Thalia looked at him coolly, her gaze dripping with sarcasm.

“Are we divorced yet?”

Darion fell silent.

Thalia didn’t hold back. She picked up a fork and started eating.

She really was hungry.

The court hearing was bound to happen sooner or later, and their marriage would end eventually. So, pretending for a bit wouldn’t cost her anything.

Darion watched her, his eyes dark. Thalia looked calm, and for once, she wasn’t prickly. She’d put away all her thorns.

But even so, he couldn’t shake the feeling that they were drifting further and further apart.

Thalia couldn’t care less about what was going on in his head. Once she’d finished eating, she looked at him. “So, have you made up your mind?”

“Alright, Darion said.

He agreed to her request.

He figured that if he didn’t go along with it, Thalia would just find another way to make it happen, and who knew what kind of unexpected twists might pop up.

Just like when Matthew Evans suddenly stepped in and Dr. Williams changed his mind.

Thalia curved her lips into a smile. “Alright, I’ll be waiting.”

She stood up and left.

But Darion grabbed her wrist.

His hand was hot, his warmth lingering on her skin. His voice was low and a little rough. “Thalia, can you stay with me a bit longer?”

‘I need to go stay with Diana at the hospital,” Thalia said, pulling her hand free and walking out without looking back.

Darion watched her walk away, that unsettling feeling of losing control flooding over him once more.

He hated that loss of control.

He sat in his office for a long time before finally getting up to leave.

Thalia walked out of the Blackburn Group in high spirits. Darion didn’t pull any tricks to stop her this time.

The Coleman family is pulling out their investment from Miya’s company.

There was no way Miya was getting her hands on the Coleman family’s money.
