Chapter 270
Thalia frowned, feeling drained. She was too tired to waste time arguing with Darion.

She headed straight to the bathroom to freshen up, then collapsed onto the small bed. Her thoughts were all over the place, still wondering who was behind the attempt to kidnap her.
The next morning.
Thalia opened her eyes and, to her surprise, saw Darion Blackburn still sitting in the chair. He must have spent the whole night there.
His shirt was noticeably rumpled, and there was a faint exhaustion on his face.
Diana had just woken up and asked, “Darion, did you sit here all night?”
Darion replied, “No, I haven’t been here long.”
Diana raised her eyebrows in surprise.
Darion smiled gently at her. “Diana, how are you feeling today?”
Diana replied, “I’m feeling a bit better today.”
Darion then turned to Thalia and said, “I ordered breakfast for us. After breakfast, I’ll head to the office with you.”
Thalia didn’t even look his way and went over to talk to Diana instead.
Diana took in the scene but kept quiet.
After breakfast, Shyla showed up.
Thalia frowned, really didn’t want Shyla here, but since Diana was okay with it, she just kept quiet.
Once they stepped out of the hospital, Thalia asked, “So, when are you going to follow through on what you promised me last night?”
Darion rubbed his temples and replied, “They’re pulling their funding today.”
Thalia couldn’t help but glance at him.
Wow, he’s not beating around the bush this time, Thalia thought.
The car was already waiting by the curb. Darion opened the door and said, “Get in.”
‘No, thanks,” Thalia replied coolly. “I’ll take a cab instead.”
But Darion caught her wrist. “Thalia, after what happened last night, I can’t just let you go off by yourself.”
Thalia shot him a half-smile. “Didn’t you already have bodyguards watching me?”
Darion said, “Just let me feel a little better, okay?”
Thalia.”

Chapter 270
Right then, a gentle voice spoke up.
Thalia turned to see Sebastian stepping out of his car.
“Sebastian, Thalia greeted him.
She took the opportunity to slip her hand free and walked over to Sebastian.
“What are you doing here?” Thalia asked, puzzled.

Sebastian looked a bit guilty. “Sorry I couldn’t help you before. I wanted to come visit Diana, but something urgent came up at work and I had to go abroad. I just got back last night.”
Thalia smiled and shook her head. “Don’t feel bad. Diana’s already had her surgery.”
Sebastian said, “I brought some supplements. Is it okay if I go see Diana now?”
“Of course,” Thalia nodded. She shot Wesley a quick text to let him know she’d be late, then turned to Sebastian. “Let’s go.”
“Okay.” Sebastian replied.
Darion watched as Thalia and Sebastian walked back into the hospital together, so furious his temples were pounding.
His expression grew even colder, but he didn’t go after them. He just slipped into the car.
He called Ryan. “How’s the investigation going on last night’s incident?”
Ryan paused, then said, “Mr. Blackburn, from the evidence so far, we know the suspect’s a man. But he’s got strong counter- surveillance skills, didn’t leave anything else behind. Right now… we still have no clue who he is.”
Darion closed his eyes and hung up without another word.
After hesitating for a while, he dialed a number he hadn’t called in ages.
“Lend me one of your guys,” Darion said.
“Oh? What for?” came the lazy reply from the other end.
“I need him to protect my wife and look into who tried to kidnap her,” Darion said calmly. “Name your price.”
The other person burst out laughing. “Ha ha ha… Man, you’re really generous this time. But I heard your wife dumped you?”
