Chapter 28 Trenton Slaps Thalia
“Lia, what are you doing?” Miya yelped, scrambling to pull tissues from her bag to wipe the water off Darion’s face.
Darion brushed her hand away, his eyes dark and stormy as he stared at Thalia. “Grandma needs someone by her side. I’ll arrange for someone to send you home.”
Thalia gripped the water bottle tightly. “You can hire a caregiver or have Jadiel stay. No matter what, you’re coming with me to finalize the divorce today.”
“You reckless brat!” Trenton’s furious voice suddenly echoed through the quiet ward.
He and Shyla rushed over, Trenton’s face ashen with anger. “Thalia, are you pretending you never heard my warnings?”
: Shyla quickly took Thalia’s hand, her tone gentle but urgent. “Thalia, Sandra just woke up. Don’t say anything
to upset her right now.”
One glared at her reproachfully, the other urged her softly to hold back.
Thalia turned to her parents, her voice sharp with grievance. “Do you even know what he’s done to me?”
Darion felt a sudden tightness in his chest, anxiety gnawing at him.
He reached out, taking her hand in a desperate attempt to stop her. “Thalia, I’ll take you home.”
‘He was about to have someone else drive me, and now he’s suddenly volunteering himself to keep me from telling everyone about his vasectomy?’ Thalia wondered.
Thalia yanked her hand away, refusing to back down. “To look after Emely’s child and be with Miya, he had…”
“Thalia!” Trenton cut her off sharply.
“Miya is your sister! How can you speak so harshly of her? When has she ever had an affair with Darion? If you really doubt them, show us the evidence. Don’t ruin your sister’s reputation only because of your own doubts.”
“She’s not my sister!” Thalia’s voice trembled with rage and grief, her eyes reddening at the corners. “She’s not your birth child. I’ll never accept her as family!”
“Who needs your approval?” Trenton scoffed. “Your mother and I made her our goddaughter. She’s the member of the Coleman family. Like it or not, you’ll have to live with it!”
Shyla tried to calm things down, her voice soft and pleading. “Don’t be so harsh. Talk to Thalia quietly. She’s a sensible girl.”
“If she really is sensible, would she keep quarreling with her sister?” Trenton frowned, his patience worn thin with Thalia. “I spoiled you too much, and now you’re acting like a child. How dare you cause a scene right in front of Sandra? Are you out of your mind?”
He turned to the bodyguards who’d followed them, his voice sharp. “Take her back and lock her in the old storage. Don’t let her out until she admits her mistake.”
The bodyguards stepped forward, reaching out to grab Thalia’s arm.
Darion stepped in, his handsome features grave and cold. “Trenton, Thalia hasn’t been getting enough rest lately. Let me take her home. She’s misunderstood a few things. I’ll talk to her and clear them up.”
“I didn’t do anything wrong,” Thalia said, her eyes red but her voice steady. “I want a divorce, and I won’t back down to Miya. If you make things difficult for me, I’ll let any of you off easily.”
Suddenly, a slap stung across her cheek.
“Trenton!” Darion’s face instantly darkening. His icy gaze locked onto Trenton, sharp and unyielding. “You shouldn’t have hit her. She’s my wife.”
Trenton’s hands shook with rage, his patience completely snapped. “Darion, you’re going to keep coddling her?
