Darion didn’t say another word. He just lounged there, nonchalantly finishing his cigarette, looking as relaxed as ever
The faint smoke curled up and quickly vanished into the air.
But for some reason, Dax suddenly felt a surge of danger.
Every muscle in his body went taut.
The next second, the guy who’d just been chilling out suddenly made the first move, launching himself at Dax with lightning speed.
Dax was startled and instinctively defended himself.
But after just a few exchanges, he was stunned to realize he was no match for Darion.
What really freaked him out was that he recognized Darion’s moves. They were all too familiar.
Within fifteen moves, Dax was flat on his back. Darion planted his foot on Dax’s chest, his gaze icy as he looked down. “You’re barely qualified to protect her.”
Dax was breathing hard, and the contempt in his eyes was gone. Now he was sizing Darion up, trying to figure him out.
“Who the hell are you?” Dax couldn’t help blurting out.
Darion lifted his foot, his tone calm. “So, are you going to listen to me now?”
Dax sat up, his gaze complicated as he looked at Darion. After a moment, he finally said, “I could never hurt Ms. Coleman.”
“Neither would I,” Darion replied, sinking back onto the couch. The wild, dangerous energy he’d been giving off faded away, and he was back to looking like the polished young master again.
“Now, I need two things from you. First, I want everything you can find about any new faces around her. Second, there’s another group watching her. They’re pretty mysterious. Keep your eyes peeled for them whenever you’re with her,” Darion said.
Dax slumped, letting out a low sigh before finally mumbling, “Alright.”
But Dax refused to give up. He stared at Darion, demanding, “Who are you, really?”
Darion rose to his feet and strode out, leaving Dax without so much as a word.
Darion had always assumed Thalia was just surrounded by ordinary people, but after these recent incidents, he realized he’d been careless.
Out of nowhere, there were people around her that even he couldn’t control.
Especially Dr. William, what made him suddenly change his mind? Who put him up to it?
And then there was that time Thalia got kidnapped out of nowhere, but she wasn’t hurt at all. What were those people really
after?
Darion’s heart sank a little. He pulled out his phone and woke up the screen.
On the screen was a photo of him and Thalia together.

It was taken when they were still in college, during a date at a park overflowing with flowers.
Thalia was smiling brightly, and Darion was kissing the corner of her lips. The photo captured that beautiful moment perfectly.
Darion’s thumb gently traced over her radiant smile, his eyes filled with longing and nostalgia.
The next day, the private jet was ready, and Sandra Blackburn was about to be sent away.
She tried to fight back, but it was no use.
Darion just wouldn’t listen to her.
Now that he was running the Blackburn Group, once he made up his mind, he rarely changed it.
Sandra was furious. She called Helen and snapped, “Your son is such a jerk! Why don’t you rein him in? Aren’t you worried people will chew him out?”
Helen knew what was happening, but she wasn’t about to interfere. This time, Sandra had really crossed the line.
Her tone was icy as she replied, “Mom, living abroad isn’t so bad. Darion will make sure you have the best help taking care of you. You’ll be better off there than here.”
“This is ridiculous!” Sandra’s voice trembled with fury. “I’m already so old, and now you want me to spend my last days dying in some foreign country? You heartless children!
“I can’t believe it. If anyone should’ve been sent away back then, it should’ve been that ungrateful brat, not Emely. If Emely were still alive, he’d never treat me like this!”
Helen’s voice went cold. “Emely has been gone for four years now. You really shouldn’t say things like that. If Darion hears you, he might get angry, and you’ll be the one paying the price.”
