Chapter 298
Thalia stood at the entrance of the emergency room, her hands still trembling.
Just then, her phone rang. It was Dax.
‘Ms. Coleman, are you alright? Are you hurt? Dax asked.
I’m not hurt, Thalia replied, taking a deep breath to steady herself. “What about you guys? Are you okay?”
‘We’re fine, but those two got away. Dax said, sounding frustrated. They were so brazen, actually using guns out in public”
‘Check carefully and find out exactly who they are.” Thalia said.
‘I will.” Dax replied, his tone serious
It was clear they were targeting Thalia. He had to get to the bottom of it.
‘By the way, how’s Mr Blackburn doing?” Dax suddenly asked.
Thalja’s voice sounded dry and strained as she replied. “He’s hurt. I’m not sure how serious it is. He passed out not long after we got in the car.”
Dax was silent for a moment, then asked. “Are you at the hospital?”
‘Yeah,” Thalia replied.
As long as they treat him quickly, he’ll be alright. Try not to worry too much, Ms. Coleman,” Dax said, trying to comfort her.
Thalia responded, then quickly asked, “How’s Diana doing?”
‘Diana’s alright. I’ve already arranged for someone to take her back to the hospital. She still doesn’t know what happened outside. Ms. Coleman, if you don’t want her to worry, maybe it’s best not to mention it,” Dax advised gently.
She’s elderly, and something like this could be too much for her.
Yeah, I know,” Thalia replied.
After hanging up. Thalia slumped against the wall, as if she finally found something solid to lean on. Her body, tense all this ime, finally loosened up a bit.
Not long after, Ryan rushed over. He grabbed a nurse and asked her to check inside and see what was going on.
Ryan’s face was tense as he said. “Thalia, Mr. Blackburn has been digging into the person behind what happened last time. but that guy’s been hiding really well. We haven’t found any trace of him yet. Do you remember anything else?”
Thalia paused, then shook her head. “It was late that night. I only saw him dressed like a city worker, claiming he’d scratched my car. I didn’t think much of it. When I turned my back, he knocked me out with something. When I came to, the first thing I saw was Darion.”
Ryan listened, his expression growing even more serious.
Just then, the nurse came out and told Ryan. The bullet hit Mr. Blackburn’s shoulder. It barely missed his lung. He’s being treated right now.”
Ryan nodded. ‘Okay. I understand.”

Ryan nodded. “Okay”
Thalia stood to the side, gazing at Darion’s unconscious form with a tangled look in her eyes. Her heart was in turmoil She couldn’t tell if she was scared, grateful, or just overwhelmed by everything that had happened
