“Why would there be guns in Oakwood?” Helen exclaimed, barely believing what she was hearing.

Her gaze turned cold and distant as she looked at Thalia. “You brought this trouble on yourself, so you deal with it. Don’t drag innocent people into your mess!”

After a pause, Helen added, “If whoever’s after you knows about Darion, they won’t let him go. You two have to get divorced!”

She turned to Ryan and said, “Prepare the divorce papers!”

Ryan was taken aback. “Mrs. Blackburn, if Mr. Blackburn hears about this…”

‘Do as I say!” Helen barked, her tone fierce. “Do you want me to lose another son?”

She pearly screamed the words.

Ryan fell silent. He was just the assistant. He had no choice but to follow orders.

He shot Thalia a helpless look, then turned and walked away.

Thalia stood frozen, her thoughts and emotions all over the place. She got why Helen felt that way.

Still, she felt really down. She had no clue who wanted her dead, and now it was like she was some kind of walking disaster, bringing chaos wherever she went.
