It was as if an invisible line had been drawn between them, their auras clashing but kept apart by an unseen
barrier.
Thalia had managed to calm herself down. Helen was right. If she wanted tonight’s plan to work, she couldn’t afford to argue with Darion.
She was starting to regret her earlier sarcasm. What if he decides not to play along?
She frowned slightly, glancing at her phone before stealing a look at him. He was also on his phone, his handsome face unreadable.
She put her phone away, got up, and walked out of the villa into the courtyard.
Helen returned just then and asked, “Thalia, where are you headed?”
“Just need some fresh air,” Thalia replied.
Helen nodded. “Alright, don’t wander off. We’re having dinner together tonight.”
“Yeah, I know,” Thalia said.
Thalia answered and made her way toward the garden.
As she stepped onto the cobblestone path, she felt her mood calm down.
After tonight, the divorce should finally be settled.
All this dragging on had left her tired.
Thalia walked into the gazebo, sat down, and stared blankly ahead.
Evening came.
The kitchen was bustling as the servants brought out dish after dish. Thalia sat in the living room watching TV, while Darion had gone off to his study.
Helen walked over and said, “Thalia, go get Darion for dinner.”
“Sure,” Thalia replied.
She just nodded, turned off the TV, and went upstairs.
She knocked on the study door. When she heard Darion’s cool, even voice, she pushed it open and stood in the doorway. “Dinner’s ready.”
Darion was staring at his laptop. When he saw Thalia, his sharp gaze flickered, and the icy look on his handsome face eased up a bit.

“Alright,” he said.
He closed his laptop and got up, walking over to her.

His eyes lingered on her face for a moment. He looked like he wanted to say something, but Thalia was already on her way downstairs.
Darion frowned a little, feeling that something just wasn’t right.
And that strange vibe followed him all the way to the dinner table.
He couldn’t believe it. Thalia was actually sitting there, totally calm, having dinner right next to Miya.
Even if they weren’t talking, things were way too peaceful between them. That alone was enough to make him suspicious.
Keith was sitting next to Miya, and the two of them kept to themselves, barely making a sound, as if they wished no one would notice them.
The seat next to Thalia was empty.
Helen said, “Darion, have a seat. I had the chef prepare all of Emely’s favorite dishes tonight, so it feels like Emely is dining with us.”
As she spoke, a trace of sadness flickered in her eyes.
Darion sat down.
Thalia had a bowl of soup in front of her. She slid it over to him and said, “It’s really good, you should try it.”
Her expression was calm, her features soft. She was nothing like the fierce woman from the courtyard earlier.
A hint of suspicion flashed in Darion’s eyes as he glanced at the soup, but he didn’t even reach for it.
The dinner table was quiet.
But Darion still didn’t touch the soup, and Helen looked increasingly anxious, constantly giving Thalia pointed glances.
Thalia showed no reaction.
She simply finished her meal in silence and went to the living room.
Maybe all that suspicion was just in Darion’s head. He was probably overthinking things.
Thalia was actually being gentle for once, and he still couldn’t help but doubt her.
He picked up the soup bowl and took a sip.
Seeing this, Helen finally relaxed and gave Miya a meaningful glance.
