“So the ‘gift’ you mentioned was drugging me and tossing another woman into my bed?” Darion’s voice was thick with disbelief.

His hand was at her throat, but he couldn’t bring himself to squeeze. He was terrified of hurting her.

But still…!

She really did this to him!

His shoulders slumped as he stared at her eerily calm face. He’d always refused to believe she didn’t love him anymore, but tonight, that belief finally wavered.

She really didn’t love him anymore.

She’d actually stoop this low just to get a divorce.

How could she do something like this?

“You both wanted this. I was just letting you be together. Was that so wrong?” Thalia said, but for some reason, she couldn’t bring herself to meet his eyes.

The expression in his eyes was unbearable for her.

He was the one who first showed kindness to Miya. For her sake, he didn’t care if Thalia was hurt or falsely accused.

So what right did he have to look at her like she was the one who betrayed him?

She was just granting his wish.

She hadn’t done anything wrong.

“You know, I was actually looking forward to that so-called ‘gift’ you promised. I really thought you were finally being kind to me, and maybe you wouldn’t mention divorce anymore. Turns out, it was all just a damn lie. Nothing was real!” Darion growled, his voice raw with pain.

Darion let out a low, guttural cry. A single tear rolled down his face, but he never took his eyes off her.

Thalia’s lashes quivered. She glanced at him instinctively, and caught sight of the tear on his face.

She paused for a second, then gave a bitter smile. “Darion, you brought this on yourself. If you’d just agreed to the divorce when I first asked, we wouldn’t be tangled up like this now.”

She reached out and tapped his chest, her brows knitting as she looked at him. “Hurts here, doesn’t it? I used to feel the same way.”

“I swear, you drive me crazy enough to want to strangle you,” Darion gritted out, his voice shaking with rage.

“Miya? She means nothing to me. I could brush her off with anything. Just because I tossed her a few scraps. you blow up at me and make a scene. Makes me seriously wonder if you ever loved me at all.”

He let go of her and stepped back, a bitter smile twisting his lips. “Thalia, I must’ve been fucking blind. Fine, you want a divorce? I’ll grant your wish.”

He turned to head for the car, but after only a few steps, he staggered and went down hard, collapsing to the ground.

Thalia’s eyes went wide in shock. She instinctively took two steps toward him.

But she forced herself to stop.

The bodyguards jumped out, quickly lifted Darion into the car, and sped off toward the hospital.

His shoulder injury hadn’t even healed yet, and now he was headed back to the hospital.

All three cars left one after another, and now, no one was restraining her anymore.

Thalia stood alone on the road, letting the wind sweep over her. The bone-chilling cold enveloped her, gradually calming her down.

He finally agreed.

That’s for the best.

Just as she opened the car door, her phone rang urgently. She glanced at the screen. It was Helen calling.

“Hello, Mrs. Blackburn,” Thalia answered.

Helen’s voice was frantic. “Thalia, did Darion go to see you? Did you see him? That kid is so damn stupid. How could he do something so crazy?

“When he realized it wasn’t you in the bedroom, he stabbed himself three times and stormed out. He’s bleeding so much. He might actually die…”

Helen was really freaking out. When she saw Darion rushing down the stairs, half his body soaked in blood, she went white as a sheet.

She called out to him, wanting to ask what was going on, but he didn’t even look at her. He was on his phone, storming out the door.

His handsome face was streaked with blood, making him look like a demon straight out of hell, cold and terrifying.
