“If he wakes up, let me know right away. I’ll arrange when we’ll go to City Hall,” Thalia said, her tone icy.
Thalia didn’t wait for a response and hung up immediately.
“Thalia…” Jason murmured, stunned.
He was taken aback, wanting to say more, but all he got was the cold dial tone.
‘Isn’t that way too cruel?’ Jason couldn’t believe how heartless she was.
‘She just hung up on me like that!
‘Darion has been hurt so many times because of her, and she’s still so indifferent!
‘After eight years together, she can just let it go like that?’ Jason thought, unable to believe it.
Jason, feeling frustrated and angry, put his phone down and glanced at Darion, who was still lying unconscious in the hospital bed.
Ryan stood nearby, his face just as serious.
“How did Darion get hurt?” Jason stared at Darion’s left arm, still confused as he asked.
Ryan shook his head. “I really don’t know.”
Jason rubbed his temples, and just then, his phone rang. He glanced at the screen and saw it was Helen Blackburn calling.
“Hello, Mrs. Blackburn,” Jason said, forcing himself to sound composed.
Helen asked, “Has Darion woken up yet?”
“Not yet,” Jason sighed. “The doctor said he lost too much blood, and we don’t know when he’ll wake up.”
Helen hesitated for a moment before saying, “I’m coming to see him now.”
“Okay,” Jason replied.
Jason felt something was off, though he couldn’t quite say what. Soon after, Helen showed up, holding Keith in her arms.
“Mrs. Blackburn, why did you bring Keith here? What if he gets scared?” Jason instinctively stepped forward and took Keith from her arms.
“Darry…?” Keith called out softly, uncertainty in his voice.
He stared at Darion lying unconscious in the hospital bed, then looked up at Jason, his wide eyes full of confusion.

Jason smiled gently. “Darry’s just sleeping. Maybe you can wake him up later and he’ll play with you, okay?”
“Okay!”
Keith nodded with extra enthusiasm.
Helen looked at Darion’s pale face, then her gaze dropped to his left arm. Guilt and self-blame flashed in her
eyes.
She regretted everything.
‘I was such an idiot!
‘How could I even think of something so dumb?’ she scolded herself.
She just wanted Darion to stay away from Thalia, so he wouldn’t be in danger anymore.
But in the end, he still ended up getting hurt.
Helen’s heart ached so much, she couldn’t help but cry.
“Mrs. Blackburn, do you know something?” Jason asked, noticing how upset she looked.
Helen wiped away her tears and shook her head. “I don’t know anything. It just hurts so much to see him. unconscious like this. I feel sad, heartbroken, and scared.”
There was absolutely no way she could ever admit to drugging her own son and making him sleep with Miya.
So she just made up an excuse and hoped no one would ask any more questions.
Jason didn’t question her any further. He simply picked up Keith and started playing with him.
“Darry,” Keith called out softly.
He leaned over the edge of the hospital bed, gently pushing Darion’s arm and calling out to him in his sweet, childish voice.
But Darion, still unconscious, didn’t respond at all.
Helen picked Keith up and said softly, “Let’s just stay quietly with Darry for a while. He’ll wake up when he’s had enough rest.”
