Chapter 339
“What’s going on? We agreed to meet at eight, but they’re so late.” Darren grumbled to himself as he turned and walked out of the café.
But he came back just a moment later, phone in hand, his beady eyes locked right on Thalia.
“Excuse me, miss, what’s your name? How old are you? Where are you from? Maybe we should get to know each other? Honestly, the moment I saw you, I just had a feeling we’d be a good match.”
Thalia was at a loss for words.
‘Wow, I really didn’t see that coming. He actually pulled a comeback move?’ Thalia thought.
Sebastian walked over and stepped right in front of Thalia, blocking her from Darren. “Sorry, but she’s here to meet me.”
Darren sized him up, then scoffed, “Aren’t you just the owner of this crappy café? I could buy ten of these with pocket change!”
Sebastian kept his cool, still smiling. “I haven’t even had a chance to talk to her yet. If you want in, you’ll have to get in line.”
Darren could only turn away, looking sulky as he left.
Sebastian sat down across from Thalia, his eyes twinkling with amusement. “I figured you were just tagging along with Ms. Adkins for her blind date.”
Thalia nodded. “I mean, yeah, who would’ve thought we’d run into someone like that?”
After a pause, she said, “Thanks for stepping in back there.”
Sebastian replied, “No problem. Maybe we should actually get to know each other?”
“What?” Thalia said, a bit surprised.
Thalia froze for a second, not sure how to respond.
Sebastian asked, “So, when’s your next divorce hearing with Mr. Blackburn?”
Thalia felt a bit weird about the question, but replied, “There probably won’t be a hearing. We’re finalizing it today at City Hall.”
Sebastian raised an eyebrow in surprise. “You were waiting for a hearing all this time. Why is it happening so suddenly?”
Thalia took a sip of her milk and said, “Maybe he finally came around.”
Sebastian just shook his head with a smile. “He’s going to regret that decision.”

Thalia sighed, exasperated. “Sebastian, could you not say that? I’ve been looking forward to this day forever.”
“Alright, alright, my bad,” Sebastian said, raising his hands in surrender.
Sebastian threw up his hands in surrender, then asked, “So, when are you heading out?”
Thalia glanced at her phone. “City Hall opens at nine, so we better hurry over now.”
Sebastian took off his apron and said, “I’m done here, and I’m actually heading that way too. Mind if I catch a ride with you?”
“You’re going the same way?” Thalia blinked, a little confused.
