Chapter 34 Miya’s Another Performance
“What, no more ‘Lia’? Is it because there’s no audience left to watch your little performance?” Thalia gave her a mocking look, her words sharp as ever.
Miya frowned slightly. “I’m not acting. You’re always misunderstanding me.”
“Misunderstanding you?” Thalia took a step closer, then another, her clear, icy eyes pinning Miya in place. “Tell me, since we were kids, have I ever falsely accused you? Even once?”
Miya stepped back instinctively, her eyes darting with wariness and defensiveness.
‘If I get hurt here, with no one to witness it, it will not be worth it… Miya thought to herself.
Her eyes flickered as she said, “Are you mad because Darion keeps coming to see me? Honestly, I can’t do anything about it.
“Darion values Keith so much, and no matter how hard I try to turn him away, he insists on coming. What can I do?”
“Bitch!” Wendy, who’d been listening quietly beside them, finally lost her temper, bursting out.
“Acting pure and innocent all the time? You do impress me a lot. You’re such a real bitch. If I don’t slap you, I’ll regret it!”
As Wendy said that, she stormed over, full of aggression.
Thalia blocked her with an outstretched arm. “Don’t lay a finger on her. She’s a master at playing the victim. What if Darion comes after you because of this? It’s not worth it.”
Wendy fumed in frustration. “Are we just letting her get away with this?”
Thalia spoke coldly, “As long as she doesn’t get what she wants, that’s enough.”
She pressed the elevator button and turned to Miya, saying, “I’m divorcing Darion. You three can live your happy life and leave me alone. Now fuck off.”
Miya pressed her lips tight, her gaze unreadable as she stared at Thalia. “Everything I said is true. Why won’t you believe me?”
The elevator doors opened. Thalia stepped in without a single glance back.
Once the doors closed, Miya took out her phone, ended the recording, shut her eyes tight, and slapped herself hard.
The crack of the slap rang out, and it stung badly.
Clutching her face, she went directly to the hospital.
On her way, Miya got a call from her friend. “Miya, guess who I just bumped into?”
Miya was dumbfounded. “Who did you see?”
“Thalia,” her friend whispered excitedly. “She just came to our company for an audition! She’s going for the main female voice role in that famous director’s new project.”
Miya’s eyes sparkled at that news. “Really?”
“Absolutely,” her friend replied.
“Alright, thanks for telling me,” Miya said.
The moment she hung up, the car arrived at the hospital.
With the vivid red handprint still burning on her cheek, Miya entered the ward. Darion looked up immediately, but as soon as he saw it was her, every bit of gentleness and hope in his eyes faded away.
Miya noticed the change in his expression, her fingers curling nervously. “Sorry, Darion. Thalia still misunderstands us. She just wouldn’t come see you.”
As she spoke, she lowered her head slightly, making sure the red mark on her face was clearly in Darion’s line
