Bonnie nervously clutched the blanket, a look of hesitation flickering across her face.

Thalia took in Bonnie’s expression and said, “You can take your time to decide. If you’d rather do something else, that’s fine too. I respect whatever you choose.”

Bonnie pressed her lips together and said, “I’ll think about it.”

“Alright,” Thalia replied.

Thalia nodded, then turned and walked out.

After leaving the hospital, Thalia walked toward her car. Suddenly, a sharp chill swept over her, making her back tense. She immediately turned to look behind her.

The hospital entrance was crowded with people rushing about, but no one seemed to notice her.

‘Could I have imagined it?’ Thalia thought to herself.

A strange unease flickered through her, and she hurried into her car.

Just as she was about to start the engine, her phone suddenly rang. She glanced at the screen. It was Dax calling.

The rapid ringtone made her nerves jump. She picked up, “Hey, Dax, what’s going on?”

Dax sounded deadly serious. “Ms. Coleman, don’t start the car. Get out right now. I think someone messed with it.”

Thalia felt a cold shiver run down her spine, her heart dropping. She hurriedly pushed open the door and got

out.

By then, Dax was already sprinting over.

“I just went to the bathroom and asked a buddy to keep an eye on your car. He said someone lingered around it for quite a while,” Dax told her.

Thalia instinctively clenched her fingers and asked, “What should I do now?”

Dax said, “Let’s have your car towed for inspection. You should grab a cab and head home.”

Thalia’s mind instantly flashed back to the last attack, and the previous time she’d blacked out.

She bit her lip and asked, “Still nothing on what happened last time?”

Dax looked apologetic. “Sorry, Ms. Coleman, we still don’t have any

clues.”

Those people seemed to appear out of thin air, then disappear just as suddenly.

Nearly a month had passed, and now they’d resurfaced, making Thalia’s nerves, just barely settled, flare up all over again.

Thalia felt her chest tighten. She said, “It’s not your fault. They’re just way too good at covering their tracks.”

She walked over to the curb while Dax called for a tow truck.

She hopped into a cab and went straight back to Maplewood Estate.

As she entered the neighborhood, another car pulled in behind her. The window rolled down, revealing Sebastian with his usual gentle, handsome look.

“Thalia, why are you taking a cab? You don’t look so good. Did something happen?” Sebastian asked.

Thalia shook her head. “It’s nothing, Mr. Flynn. You’re off work early today?”

Sebastian got out of the car and walked over to her. “Yeah, I didn’t have much to do, so I came back early. And there’s been an update on that matter.”

Thalia’s lashes fluttered. ‘Did Sebastian find something out about Hope Village?’ she wondered.

Noticing the change in her expression, Sebastian said, “Why don’t we talk at my place?”

Thalia nodded. “Okay.”

His apartment was simple and stylish. He handed her a pair of disposable slippers and said, “I don’t usually have girls over, so I only have disposable slippers. Hope they fit.”

Thalia nodded. “Yeah, they’re good.”

“Take a seat,” Sebastian said, taking off his jacket. He poured her a glass of water, set it down in front of her, and then grabbed his phone.

“I sent someone undercover to talk to the folks from Hope Village who went through the earthquake.

“Instead of grilling them about what happened, they just blended in, spent time with them, helped them relax, and casually brought up the old days. Turns out, we actually found out some things,” Sebastian said.
