I Divorced You Now You Beg (Thalia and Darion) novel Chapter 357

Chapter 357

Are the guy with the knife and the one who shoved me in cahoots?

‘Who killed the lights in the bar?

‘Is all of this really targeting me?

Whose plans am I messing up?

‘Why are they so hell-bent on wiping me out?’ Thalia wondered.

Thalia slumped against the wall, all the fight drained out of her. Her hand, which had been clutching the mop handle so tightly, finally let go.

In the darkness, the man across from her let out a faint, almost mocking laugh.

The feeling of familiarity grew stronger for Thalia. She looked up at him, her lips tightening, but she kept her questions to herself.

‘It’s not safe here, she thought.

‘Who is this guy standing right in front of me?’ Thalia thought, feeling a strange sense of familiarity.

Her phone started buzzing in her pocket. She tried to grab it, but the man caught her hand and held her back.

Thalia immediately tensed up, struggling to break free.

But he was way stronger. He gripped her hand, flipped it over, and scribbled something in her palm.

[Don’t move.] he wrote.

Thalia froze, her fingers instinctively curling. She managed to pull her hand back. Though it felt unnatural, she obediently stayed still just like he told her.

‘At least for now, this guy probably wasn’t here to hurt me,’ Thalia thought to herself.

Time ticked by, the room so quiet she could hear her own heartbeat. The man’s presence felt more and more familiar to her.

She thought of Darion.

‘No way, Thalia thought.

Just yesterday, when she talked to him, he said he’d be back in seven days.

‘So it can’t be him standing here, she thought.

Thalia knitted her brows, her thoughts all jumbled up.

“The power’s back! Everyone can come out now. I’ve already called the cops, so nobody leaves until they get here,” a voice called out.

It was the bar manager.

‘He sure took his sweet time,’ Thalia thought.

Thalia was still lost in thought when, out of nowhere, the lights overhead flickered back on.

The sudden burst of light was overwhelming, and she instinctively shut her eyes tight.

She raised her hand to block the glare, and once her vision adjusted, she opened her eyes, only to find Darion standing right across from her, also leaning against the wall.

His striking, chiseled face was unreadable, but those signature phoenix eyes of his were fixed on her with an amused, almost teasing look.

Her pupils contracted in shock, and she blurted out, “You tricked me?!”

As she spoke, she raised her hand to slap him.

But he caught her wrist, pulled her straight into his arms, and wrapped his other arm around her waist.

“Thalia, is this how you treat your savior?” Darion said, his tone laid-back and gentle.
