At that moment, Dax walked over with a glass of water. Thalia glanced in his direction and frowned slightly.
Dax wasn’t the type to be this considerate.
Down the hall where Dax had come from, Darion was standing at the far end, talking on his phone, a glass of water in his hand as well.
Thalia looked away and said, “Thanks, I’m not thirsty.”
Dax really wasn’t the considerate type. Darion had just told him to bring it over. ‘Seriously, what’s the point of bringing this now?’ Dax grumbled to himself.
‘She’s not going to drink it anyway, he thought.
‘See? Called it,’ Dax smirked inwardly.
“Totally pointless,’ Dax muttered in his head.
Dax set the glass aside and then stood next to Thalia, keeping watch over her.
The bar manager kept apologizing and bowing, getting grilled and yelled at by the crowd.
With something this serious happening, the manager was definitely on the hook for this mess.
Soon, the cops showed up.
To keep things organized, the police set aside a VIP room and started calling in everyone who’d been partying there tonight, one by one, for questioning.
The chaos had broken out so fast, anyone could’ve been the suspect with the knife.
If you had a buddy to back you up, you’d get cleared in no time. But if you were on your own, you’d be taken to the station for further investigation.
Soon, Thalia’s turn came.
She was called into the room.
An officer asked, “What were you doing when the incident happened?”
Thalia answered, “I was dancing on the dance floor.”
“After the power went out, what did you hear? What did you do?” the officer pressed.
Thalia explained everything to the officer in detail, step by step, not leaving anything out.

Finally, the officer asked, “You said you hid in the storage room with someone. Who was it?”
Thalia cast her eyes down and replied, “My husband, Darion Blackburn.”
“Alright, you can go now,” the officer said.
The next person the police called in was Darion.
But not long after, the police called Thalia in again.
Thalia looked confused and asked, “Officer, is something wrong?”
The officer replied, “Darion says he hasn’t seen you.”

Thalia shot a sharp look at Darion, who was lounging on the couch, her brows knitting together. “Darion, is this really your idea of fun?”
Darion looked completely at ease, like he wasn’t even being questioned. He lifted his eyes and looked at her, saying, “What am I playing at?”
“We were hiding in the storage room together! Why are you saying you never saw me?” Thalia was furious.
Darion smirked, “But you didn’t seem too keen to admit it yourself. You were even about to hit me.”
He rubbed his cheek. “Lucky I kept my guard up, or you really would’ve clocked me!”
‘So he was just waiting to catch me out!’ Thalia thought, her frustration bubbling up.
