Chapter 373
“I’m coming back now,” Darion said.
He hung up the phone and drove straight back to the old house.

The nanny was holding Keith, trying to soothe him, but the little boy kept crying nonstop, his voice already turning hoarse.
“Darry, I want Mommy… Mommy,” Keith whimpered, tears streaming down his face.
Darion picked Keith up and carried him upstairs, asking gently, “Keith, did you finish your homework today?”
“Y-Yes, I finished it…” Keith stammered, his voice trembling.
He wiped his eyes, but the tears just kept falling.
He wrapped his arms around Darion’s neck and asked, “Darry, when is Mommy coming back?”
Darion didn’t answer his question. Instead, he said, “Where did you put your homework? I haven’t checked it yet.”
Keith suddenly got nervous. He wriggled out of Darion’s arms, walked over to his little desk, picked up his books, and handed them to Darion.
Then, the little guy just stood there, sniffling nonstop, but didn’t dare to cry out loud anymore.
Keith was in kindergarten, and his class didn’t usually have homework. But Darion would give him assignments to distract him and help him grow.
If he finished his homework well, he’d get a treat.
If he messed up, he’d get in trouble.
For Keith, who was just over three years old, getting his palm smacked was the worst punishment imaginable.
He was so scared of that, he never dared to leave any of Darion’s homework unfinished,
Darion nodded. “You did great, Keith. You’ve earned yourself a piece of candy today.”
Keith’s eyes sparkled. He grabbed the candy, and just like that, the tears stopped and he forgot all about calling for his mom.
Darion patiently played with him for a long time, gave him a bath, and then tucked him in, helping him drift off to sleep.
Seeing the little boy’s eyes and brows that looked so much like Emely’s, Darion’s eyes softened with warmth.
Once he stepped out of the room, Darion cast a cold glance at the nanny and said, “Call over all the nannies who took care of Keith today.”

“Yes, sir.” the nanny replied.

There were six nannies looking after Keith, each in charge of something different: his meals, clothes, living arrangements, playtime, and learning.
Darion sat in front of his computer, watching the surveillance footage. He could see exactly what each nanny was doing with Keith and hear every word they said.
After a moment, he turned to one of the nannies who had kept her head down the whole time and asked, “Do you have anything to say?”
The nanny shuddered and quickly shook her head. “No, nothing, sir.”
“Then why did you mention his mother to Keith?” Darion asked in a cold tone.
