I Divorced You Now You Beg (Thalia and Darion) novel Chapter 38

Chapter 38 Reunion With Matthew

The memory felt so far away that Thalia froze for a second before it all rushed back to her.

During her freshman year, she’d wanted to get closer to Darion and tell him how she felt. She’d written him a letter, tracked down his dorm, and waited for him at the entrance.

That was when Matthew spotted her. He walked over with a smile and asked, “Are you looking for someone?”

Thalia felt a little flustered, but her eyes shone with hope. “I’m looking for Darion.”

“I’m his roommate. What do you need him for?” Matthew asked directly.

Thalia’s eyes lit up instantly. She hastily handed him the envelope. “Could you pass this to him?”

Matthew glanced at it, smirked, and teased, “Let me guess. A love letter?”

“No, it’s not…” Thalia stammered, cheeks burning with embarrassment as Matthew exposed her true intention. “Anyway, thanks a lot!”

With that, she turned and hurried away.

Snapping back to reality, Thalia broke into a smile. “Wow, it’s really you! Long time no see. What are you doing these days?”

Matthew sighed. “My family sent me overseas before I graduated. I only got back after completing what they arranged for me.”

He looked at her closely, seeing how pale she was and how red her eyes were. “Why are you here by yourself? You look awful. Are you feeling unwell?”

Thalia shook her head. “No, I’m fine.”

Matthew said, “Where are you going? Let me give you a lift. It’s not safe for you to be out here alone like this.”

Thalia forced a smile. “Thank you, but I’ll just take a taxi. It’s fine.”

Matthew could see that she seemed really out of sorts.

Matthew’s brows furrowed, and he gently grabbed her arm, not letting go. “I can’t let you go by yourself when you’re this upset. Come with me. I’m Darion’s friend, and since you’re his wife, that makes us friends too, yeah? Come on, get in.”

Thalia was clearly distracted, her posture slack and her eyes empty. She managed a smile. “Thanks.”

“No need to be so formal,” Matthew said, helping her into the car before sliding in beside her. “Honestly, it’s a

pity I missed your wedding. After all, I was the one who played matchmaker for you two.”

Thalia stared down at her hands, her fingers nervously twisting the edge of her shirt.

Matthew shot her a suspicious look:-“Did you two quarrel or something?”

Thalia lifted her head and met his gaze. “You missed the wedding, but you’re right on time for the divorce.” “What?” Matthew was completely caught off guard. “You two are splitting up? But you love each other so much, and you’ve been married for years. How could everything fall apart so suddenly?”

Thalia replied quietly, “He fell in love with his sister-in-law.”

“No way,” Matthew protested immediately,

“I haven’t seen him in ages, but I know Darion. He was head over heels for you. There’s no way he’d ever fall for someone else, especially his sister-in-law.”

Thalia curled her lips in sarcasm. “Just pull over. I’d like to go back on my own.”

Matthew frowned. “Isn’t this just a misunderstanding? Let me talk to him. I’ll ask him what’s really going on.”

“Don’t bother,” Thalia replied, her voice going cold. “Pull over, please.”

Her expression was frosty. Seeing she meant it, Matthew didn’t press further. “Alright, alright. We’re almost there. I’ll drop it.”
