The car pulled up in front of City Hall.

Thalia got out, clutching her documents, and spotted Darion’s car parked nearby.

The door swung open, and Darion stepped out, tall and commanding in a black suit, no tie, exuding a rebellious vibe.

He glanced at her, his eyes dark and intense, holding her gaze for a moment before striding toward City Hall.

Thalia hurried after him.

Things were going smoothly this time.

But when they reached the entrance, they realized City Hall was closed.

Thalia froze.

Darion raised an eyebrow, pulled out his phone, glanced at it, and let out a soft laugh.

“It’s Saturday,” he said.

Thalia fell silent.

She tilted her head back, staring at the blue sky, and suddenly felt like a fool for everything she’d done.

She’d even posted on Instagram, wondering why nobody reacted along the way. Maybe she’d misread the whole situation.

It wasn’t Sebastian or Matthew who stopped her from getting divorced. It was someone else entirely.

But in the end, it all came down to Saturday.

Thalia shrugged and said, “Let’s just come back on Monday.”

No way. This divorce is definitely happening!

“Thalia,” Darion called from behind.

She froze, hearing Darion’s voice, but didn’t turn around.

Her heart sank unexpectedly, a heaviness settling inside her.

“Honestly, we’re no different from being divorced already,” Darion said, his gaze lingering on Thalia’s delicate silhouette as the breeze played with a few strands of her hair.

“Does that certificate really matter?”

“It matters,” Thalia shot back, not missing a beat.

“As long as we’re not truly separated, it’s like there’s this invisible leash around my neck, always choking me, making me feel trapped and miserable.”

Darion’s eyes grew darker. “Does our marriage really make you miserable?”

“Isn’t it only natural?” Thalia kept her eyes forward, her tone dripping with sarcasm. “Darion, after everything that’s happened, after all the hurt and crap I’ve been through, how could I not feel this way?”

Darion answered softly, “Maybe it was all a mistake from the very beginning.”

Thalia’s long lashes quivered, but she didn’t say a word. She just kept walking.

Once she got in the car, she finally let out a long, heavy breath.

She pulled out her phone and saw a notification on Instagram.

She tapped in and saw comments from Sebastian and Matthew.

Sebastian: [City Hall’s closed today.]

Matthew: [Thalia, are you that desperate to get divorced? Didn’t you even check what day it is?]

Thalia fell silent.

She tossed her phone aside and drove off.

Darion watched as Thalia drove off, then turned away and got into his own car.
