Thalia paused, her expression flickering. Even though she knew how dangerous things were for her right now, she still said, “Your injury isn’t fully healed yet…”

“Are you worried about me?” Darion asked with a hint of amusement in his voice.

But before she could finish, Darion strode over, his dark eyes locked onto hers.

Thalia was at a loss for words.

‘Why did I even say anything?’ she thought.

Her expression turned frosty, and she stormed out of the villa.

Darion’s lips curled into a subtle smirk, and he went after her.

Diana was surprised to see him, her eyes darting to his legs. She asked bluntly, “Didn’t you break your leg in a car accident? How did you recover so quickly?”

Thalia was stunned.

‘Crap!

‘How could I forget to give him a heads-up?’ she scolded herself.

Right then, she could feel someone’s gaze on her. She didn’t even need to look to know who it was.

Darion glanced at Thalia, a bit surprised she’d come up with that excuse, but he remained unfazed and replied, “It’s nothing serious, Diana.”

Diana’s eyes flashed with something deeper, but she let it go without another word.

They got in the car and headed straight for the private hospital owned by the Coleman group.

Trenton was waiting outside the hospital room. When he saw them, he stepped forward and gently took Diana’s arm. “Mom, how have you been lately?”

Diana answered calmly, “I’m recovering well.”

Trenton nodded. “Shyla would be relieved to see you doing so well.”

Diana didn’t say anything more and went straight into the room.

Shyla had changed dramatically. She was gaunt, her eyes dull and lifeless, looking utterly exhausted.

“Mom…” Shyla called out, her voice weak.

Seeing Diana walk in, Shyla was startled and struggled to sit up, but she was too frail.

Trenton quickly moved to help her, gently settling her against the headboard so she could be more comfortable.

Thalia helped Diana into a chair, then stepped back a few paces, watching them with an aloof, indifferent

gaze.

“Thalia,” Shyla called out, her voice trembling with emotion.

Seeing Thalia, Shyla grew even more agitated, reaching out with a shaky hand, wanting so badly to hold

hers.

But Thalia didn’t move closer or say a word. Her eyes were cool and indifferent, showing no emotion at all.

Shyla’s arm froze midair, trembling, and the tension in the room was suffocating.

Trenton’s brows furrowed. “Thalia, you…”

Diana finally broke the silence, her gaze lingering on Shyla’s frail, haggard face. “What happened to you?”

Shyla slowly lowered her hand. “My health’s never been great, and with everything that’s happened lately, I just couldn’t get through it.”

“You’re just overthinking things,” Diana said, her tone gentle. “At your age, you should be enjoying life. Your children and grandchildren will have their own blessings. But you just never figured that out.”

Shyla looked at her. “Mom, I know I was wrong. I shouldn’t have done what I did last time…”
