Chapter 406
Trenton’s face was grim.
In his eyes, Thalia was nothing but an ungrateful backstabber.

They’d raised her, but she never once thought about paying them back. Now, she was turning against them like this.
“You’re so disloyal and ungrateful. Do you really think your birth parents will ever want you back?” Trenton snapped.
Without another word, he turned and walked back into the hospital room.
Thalia kept a blank face, showing no emotion.
She felt no ripple of emotion inside.
Her mind drifted over all the memories of what had happened.
If they still cared for her like they did when she was little, she would be devastated right now.
But that’s just wishful thinking.
The hospital room door opened again, and Darion stepped out.
His face looked a bit pale, and his handsome brows were furrowed.
“What did he say to you?” Darion asked.
Thalia shook her head. “It doesn’t matter anymore.”
A flicker of worry flashed in Darion’s dark eyes as he looked at her gentle features. “He wouldn’t dare lay a finger on you. You don’t have to be afraid.”
Thalia looked up at him, her clear eyes locking onto his. “Why are you saying this to me now?”
She paused, then reminded him, “Don’t forget, we’ve already signed the divorce agreement.”
Darion’s face grew darker, his tone cool. “As your partner, I’m just being considerate. Is it wrong for me to care about you?”
His words caught her off guard.
She wasn’t completely heartless, after all.
She kept quiet and waited patiently.
After what felt like forever, Diana finally came out. She looked exhausted, and the sadness in her eyes was impossible to hide.
Thalia’s breath caught. “Diana, are you okay?”

Diana took her hand and shook her head. “I just started thinking about everything that happened in the past. If I hadn’t been with Mason Mcgee, maybe all the things that followed would never have happened.”
Thalia pressed her lips together, her eyes flashing with mixed emotions.
Diana still had a soft spot for Shyla.
After all, Shyla was the daughter she’d carried for ten months and brought into the world.
It was Shyla who had gradually grown distant from her, and as a mother, Diana never understood what she’d done to make her daughter so cold toward her.
Now that she knew everything, Diana could only feel how absurd it all was.
“Is Shyla here?” the elderly woman asked.
Just then, an old voice rang out.
Everyone turned to see a woman with silver hair, looking elegant and well-kept for her age.
She was leaning on someone for support, asking the nurse something.
The nurse paused. “What’s the patient’s full name?”
The old woman replied, “Shyla Mcgee.”
The nurse pointed over. “She’s in that room.”
