Chapter 407
“You’re the one who has no place here,” Vicky said with a fake smile. “If it weren’t for you, I would’ve been with Mason a long time ago.”
Diana didn’t even flinch. “We never got divorced, so you’ll always be the other woman, the homewrecker who tried to break up a family.”
‘That was a perfect comeback!’ Thalia thought, itching to applaud Diana.
‘I can’t help but want to clap for Diana!’
Thalia had only ever heard snippets of the story from Shyla, but she had a pretty good idea of what really happened.
Even if Mason had been forced to marry Diana, once he did, he should have stayed loyal to her and at least tried to be faithful.
But he didn’t. He kept seeing his old flame, and he was the one who cheated first. Diana was never the one
at fault.
Vicky’s face fell, and every wrinkle seemed to scowl with hostility.
“Sure, you’re his wife on paper, but you never had his love. Not even your own daughter cares about you,” Vicky sneered, then strode straight into the hospital room.
Diana Brooks looked at her with an indifferent calm, her face showing no emotion at all.
“Diana…” Thalia called out, worry clear in her voice.
Thalia felt a pang of concern for her.
Diana Brooks gave her a gentle smile. “Thalia, don’t worry about me. I’m really okay.”
It had been years since Diana Brooks had seen Vicky, and for a moment, she just couldn’t help herself.
But Thalia still couldn’t shake off her worry. ‘Is she really okay?’ she thought, feeling uneasy.
Diana might not care what Mason thought, but Shyla was her daughter, the one she’d always cherished and wished nothing but health and happiness for.
Vicky’s words cut deep.
Thalia gently took Diana’s arm. “Come on, let’s head back.”
“Okay,” Diana replied softly.
Inside the hospital room.
“Vicky,” Shyla called out, her voice trembling.
As soon as she saw Vicky, tears rolled down her cheeks. “Why did you come? You’re getting up there in years, and your health isn’t great. You really didn’t have to run around for me.”

Vicky squeezed her hand. “Shyla, how did you get so sick? Last time I saw you, you looked perfectly fine.”
“This is all because of Thalia!” Trenton snorted, his face dark with rage.
Vicky turned to him, her voice gentle. “Trenton, what happened? Talk to me, tell me what’s going on.”
Trenton let out a heavy sigh. “Thalia and Miya have always been at odds. Thalia was constantly making things difficult for her. Then Miya suddenly vanished. When Shyla found out, it was just too much for her to handle. Vicky, I’m sorry. It’s our fault for not looking after Miya properly.”
“What did you just say?” Vicky’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Vicky staggered, almost losing her balance.
“Vicky!” Shyla called out, panic in her voice.
Shyla struggled to sit up, but Vicky gently held her back. Her aged face was full of grief. “How could this happen? Miya’s parents died so young, and now she’s disappeared too. Why am I so unlucky? Why do all my loved ones keep leaving me one by one?”
