Thalia’s brows furrowed as she watched Darion acting all shameless. She took a deep breath and asked, “So, what will it take for you to promise you’ll keep your mouth shut in front of Diana?”

Darion’s eyes sparkled with mischief. He said, “Kiss me.”

Thalia gave him a cold stare. “We’ve already signed the divorce agreement.”

“But we haven’t finalized the divorce yet, have we?” Darion raised an eyebrow. “That means we’re still married, so what’s wrong with a kiss between husband and wife?”

“Suit yourself,” Thalia said, turning away.

Thalia turned her back on him, ‘If anything happens to Diana because of you, you won’t get away with it.

She reached for the door, but suddenly, a warm body pressed up against her from behind. Darion locked her in his arms, holding her firmly, and then quickly kissed her on the side of her face.

“You…” Thalia exclaimed, shocked and annoyed.

She looked at him in disbelief, her eyes flashing with surprise and irritation.

Darion held her close, his voice low. “If you won’t kiss me, then I’ll just have to kiss you instead.”

“Let go of me!”

Thalia twisted and fought to break free from Darion’s arms.

“Stop moving. You’re going to make my wound split open,” Darion grumbled in a low voice.

Thalia was fuming. She tried to pinch his waist, but his muscles were so taut she couldn’t even get a grip.

“Darion, you said you didn’t want to keep this marriage going anymore. You said you were done with it. So what are you trying to do now?” Thalia demanded, her frustration boiling over as she struggled to break

free.

“I can’t,” Darion said, his voice rough.

“I wanted to stay away from you, stop thinking about you, stop seeing you, and just agree to the divorce so we’d never cross paths again. But no matter how hard I try, I just can’t,” he added.

During that business trip, he’d hoped to clear his head. Thalia misunderstood him, sent other women his way, and kept pushing him away over and over.

‘She’s already done all this to push me away. Why am I still clinging to her?

‘If she wants a divorce, maybe letting her go would be good for both of us.’

But those days and nights were pure torture for him.

If only they could clear things up, everything would be okay. But Thalia was so ruthless. She just cut him off, like he was nothing to her.

“Thalia, you must’ve put some kind of spell on me. Otherwise, after all the times you’ve hurt me, why is it that I still can’t see anyone but you?” Darion said, his voice low and raw.

Thalia tilted her head back and gave a mocking laugh. “Darion, you’re lying to me again.”

Darion kept holding her tight. “I’m not lying. My wound really hurts, so don’t push me away.”

His voice dropped even lower. “I’m really upset. You let other women get close to me. How could you do that?”

His tone was full of accusation and lingering bitterness, like a kid who’d been abandoned, powerless to fight back, so this was the only way he could express his pain.

Thalia’s fingers curled, her heart trembling with a sudden ache. She grabbed his arm and said, “Let go.”

“I’m not letting go,” Darion said, refusing to budge.

His grip only got tighter.

Thalia felt her breath getting tight, her expression icy. “Let go of me, Darion. Don’t make me kick you out.”

Darion stayed silent, hugging her for a few more seconds, as if he couldn’t bear to let go, before finally releasing her.

Thalia turned around, her gaze icy and detached as she looked at him. “You’re upset, you feel wronged? I’ve felt that way more times than I can count. But you never felt the pain I did.

“Darion, even if you love me, what you did for her really happened. I’ll always hold onto that, and I’ll never be able to move past it. So, no matter what, we’re getting divorced.”
