Chapter 41 Clear It Up

Chapter 41 Clear It Up

Thalia’s eyes widened in shock, and she struggled against him frantically, her breath coming in ragged gasps. Her eyes grew even redder, tears glistening in them.

“Bastard!” she spat.

Darion’s breathing grew heavier, his chest rising and falling rapidly as he held her gaze. “Have you even figured out what really happened?” he murmured.

“What are you talking about?” Thalia shot back.

Darion stood up and pulled her to her feet, his voice turning cold and sharp. “Wendy had the nerve to pick a fight first. So why can’t I teach her a lesson?”

Thalia was stunned. “What did she do?”

Darion’s throat tightened. He hesitated, as if the words were painful to say. After a long, heavy pause, he finally whispered, “Miya.”

‘It’s always about Miya!’ Thalia fumed.

She clenched her fists so tightly. A harsh, self-mocking laugh escaped her lips, hollow and broken. “She wouldn’t dare bully Miya. I told her you’d burn the world down to protect her. How could she dare go up against you, Darion?”

Her face was pale, her eyes red-rimmed and brimming with unshed tears, her frame so fragile it looked like she might crumble at any moment. She stared at Darion, her voice dropping to a whisper. “Do you get it now? She wouldn’t dare.”

A sharp, piercing pain tore through Darion’s chest, and he reached out, wrapping his hand around hers, his voice softening, laced with a hint of guilt. “Thalia, don’t look at me like that.”

Tears pricked Thalia’s eyes, her anger vanishing, replaced by a crushing sadness. She looked at Darion with a gaze so distant, so full of heartbreak, it was as if she didn’t know him anymore.

“How should I face you now? You’ve protected her at every turn, and now you’re targeting Wendy. What am I supposed to think of you now?”

Darion’s sharp brows drew together, his jaw clenching. He pulled out his phone and dialed a number. “Bring Wendy here.”

Panic surged through Thalia. “What are you doing? I told you, she wouldn’t dare do anything to Miya.”

Darion’s voice was low and rough. “Whether she did it or not, we’ll clear it up face to face.”

He then instructed his assistant to fetch Miya.

A few minutes later, Miya walked in with Keith in her arms. Keith curled into her chest instinctively when he saw Thalia, his body tensing, as if he was scared of her.

Darion frowned, asking, “Why did you bring him here?”

Miya replied, “He’s a bit sleepy, and he wouldn’t settle down. I thought I’d hold him for a while to calm him.”

“Send him back,” Darion said, his tone turning colder. “He’s three years old now. He can’t keep clinging to you all the time.”

In that moment, he was every inch the strict, unyielding father.

Thalia watched him with mixed feelings.

‘If he hadn’t gotten a vasectomy, maybe we could have had a child together. Would he be so harsh with our own kid?’ she wondered.

But no matter how she imagined, it was pointless.

He’d had the procedure, and now he was only disciplining his brother’s child.

Thalia closed her eyes, swallowing hard to tamp down the overwhelming wave of pain and bitterness

Miya came back after dropping Keith off, her tone laced with fake concern. “What’s going on?”

But nobody bothered to respond.

Miya said no more and just sat quietly in the corner.

Moments later, Wendy was brought in.

She immediately shrugged off the bodyguard’s hold. “Get your hands off me, you idiots! Don’t you know who you’re dealing with?”
