Thalia let out a soft scoff and shot him a look. “Besides, your nephew means so much to you. When you have your own kid, how are you going to handle that?”
The atmosphere in the elevator grew cold and heavy, a suffocating tension slowly spreading.
Darion said in a low voice, “I’ll love my child with all my heart.”
Thalia replied, “Save it for your future wife.”
Ding!
The elevator doors slid open, and Thalia stepped out first.
Darion watched her back as she left, his eyes darkening as he slowly followed after her.
Diana was clearly happy to see Thalia back, but her smile didn’t quite reach her eyes.
Thalia picked up on it and gently helped Diana out to the balcony for some fresh air. “Diana, are you upset?” she asked.
“No, not at all,” Diana replied with a warm smile. “At my age, isn’t it normal to just feel calm about everything?”
Thalia gently held Diana’s dry hand. “I can see you’re not really happy, Diana. Is something bothering you? Will you tell me?”
Diana brushed her hair softly and smiled. “Honestly, there’s nothing wrong. You’re worrying too much.”
Thalia leaned in, resting her head on Diana’s shoulder as she watched the evening settle over the world, the sunset slowly fading into the horizon.
Out of nowhere, Thalia asked, “Diana, do you want to go see her?”
By “her,” Thalia meant Shyla.
Diana didn’t reply. She just kept gently stroking Thalia’s hair, her touch soft and comforting.
But that quiet acceptance spoke louder than words.
Thalia’s lashes fluttered, then she said, “Diana, you don’t have to worry about me. She’s your daughter, and she’s really sick right now. You have every reason to go see her. I’ll go with you tomorrow.”
Diana’s hand paused in Thalia’s hair. “Thalia, are you sure this won’t make you sad?”
“Not at all.”
Thalia gave a gentle smile. “You’ve always been my Diana, and you’ve always treated me so well. This won’t make me sad.”
Diana let out a gentle sigh. “When you’re nearing the end of your life, all those old grudges and regrets just fade away. All you want is to see her one more time, just one more glimpse if you can.”

Chapter 428
“I understand.” Thalia replied softly.
Thalia nodded.
Diana said, “You don’t need to come with me. I can manage on my own.”
“I’d be worried if you went alone,” Thalia said, sitting up and giving her a warm smile. “I’ll just take you there, but I won’t go inside.”
Diana looked at her smile and nodded. “Alright, I’ll listen to you.”
Thalia could see a new spark in Diana’s eyes now.
She truly longed for Shyla.
Especially with Shyla gravely ill these days.
She was her one and only daughter.
Maybe in the past, the bond she had with Thalia kept her from feeling so empty.
But ever since she learned Thalia wasn’t Shyla’s biological daughter, even if she kept saying it didn’t matter, something quietly changed deep down.
