Thalia smiled at Diana. “Yeah, you’ll be helping me with my kids someday. Though I still have no idea who the dad will be.”
Darion’s eyes darkened a bit.
A knowing look flashed in Diana’s eyes, and she just smiled, saying nothing more.
Thalia wanted to stay the night, but Darion kept watching her with that intense, unreadable gaze.
She frowned slightly, worried he might blurt out something crazy, and turned to Diana. “It’s getting late. We should head back.”
Diana pulled her into the study, lowered her voice, and asked in a hushed tone, “Thalia, what’s going on? Aren’t you two getting divorced anymore?”
Thalia’s eyes flickered briefly. “We are, but something came up and it’s not settled yet. Once it’s all sorted out, we’ll be completely done.”
Diana said, “But it looks like Darion might be having second thoughts.”
Thalia gave a small smile. “No way. He’s just joking with you. He’s obsessed with Emely’s kids, remember? He even got a vasectomy.”
Diana’s face darkened. “He’s got his priorities all messed up. Caring more about someone else’s kids than his own family. I still support you getting divorced. Sebastian’s a decent guy, but it’s a shame you’re just not into his type.”
Thalia said, “Alright, don’t worry about it. Tomorrow, I’ll go with you to the hospital.”
“Okay,” Diana replied.
As they left the apartment building, the streetlights stretched their shadows out behind them.
Thalia walked behind Darion, making sure to keep her distance.
“Thalia?” Sebastian called out, his tone warm and casual.
He was out walking his dog, leash in hand, when he spotted her.
“Sebastian,” Thalia replied, her voice gentle.
Her eyes flickered briefly, but she still managed a soft smile as she greeted him.
Sebastian walked over, glancing at the two of them side by side. His gaze flickered with something unreadable. “Came back to see Diana?” he asked.
“Yeah.” Thalia nodded.
Sebastian continued, “How’s Diana’s health?”

“She’s pretty good,” Thalia replied.
Their exchange was brief and distant, like two polite strangers.

Sebastian sensed the distance between them, paused, and shot a look at Darion.
Sebastian’s intention was clear. He wanted a private word with Thalia, hoping Darion would step aside.
But Darion completely ignored the hint, just stood there with his gaze fixed on the dog.
Thalia blinked, a hint of hesitation in her eyes. “Sebastian, I have something I need to take care of. I should get going.”
Sebastian’s brows furrowed. “Thalia, I wanted to ask you something.”
He couldn’t help but feel confused by how distant she’d suddenly become, and he wanted to get to the bottom of it.
But it was like she wasn’t even giving him a chance to ask.
She shook her head. “Maybe another time, I really have something to do right now.”
“Alright,” Sebastian said, not pushing it.
He watched as Thalia left with Darion, his gaze darkening behind his glasses.
‘Why is she acting so distant all of a sudden?
