Chapter 43 Thalia Almost Kneels

Wendy froze, her struggle abruptly halted. The color drained from her face, her lips moved as if she wanted to curse, but she bit back the words.

Thalia stared at Darion in utter disbelief, her eyes brimming with red-rimmed rage and heartbreak. Her chest rose and fell rapidly, each breath ragged and sharp.

She screamed, “I’m the one who hit her! I’m the one who ‘bullied’ her! You should target me! Why involve innocent people?”

Darion’s face darkened further, an icy, menacing aura settling over him. He snapped, “So you admit you were bullying her? Are you done stirring up trouble?”

Thalia’s fists clenched tightly at her sides. She bit her lip so hard she could taste blood, the pain a sharp anchor to her crumbling sanity.

Darion’s eyes narrowed, his gaze flickering with barely suppressed rage as he struggled to maintain control. Stop it, Thalia. Can we make peace, please?”

Thalia’s lip trembled, and she bit down even harder, her voice hoarse and shaky, barely a whisper. “What if… I don’t want to?”

Darion glanced at the bodyguard, and the message was clear: he wouldn’t let Wendy off the hook.

Tears finally broke free, streaming down Thalia’s face. “How can you do this to me?”

By the time she got the last word out, she was already choking up, unable to form another sentence.

She hated herself for crumbling like this. Brushing away her tears, she faced Miya. “What do you want to let Wendy go? Should I get down on my knees right now?”

Miya’s eyes wavered, her face throbbing with pain, leaving her speechless for a moment.

Thalia moved to sink to her knees.

“Thalia!” Wendy cried out.

“I was wrong, Darion. Mr. Blackburn, I know I was wrong, please? I swear, from now on, if I see Miya, I’ll turn the other way. I’ll keep my head down and stay out of your way.

“But don’t do this to Thalia. She loves you so much. How could you hurt her like this?”

She sobbed uncontrollably, thrashing wildly, but the bodyguards held her fast, pinning her down.

Darion’s eyes slit sharply. He stepped forward, grabbing her arm. “Who the hell told you to kneel?”

His grip was bone-crushing, as if he might snap her arm off, but Thalia felt nothing.

She just offered a bitter smile, saying, “I’m begging for her forgiveness. I hit her, I’m apologizing. Aren’t I doing exactly what you wanted? Why aren’t you satisfied?”

Suffocation wrapped around him, leaving him gasping for air. His eyes pinned her down, teeth ground together in frustration. “Then why won’t you make peace with me?”

Thalia lowered her eyes, her lashes fluttering unsteadily. “I don’t want you anymore.”

Tension hung thick in the air, an icy chill sweeping through the room, making it hard for anyone to even breathe.

Darion kept his stare on Thalia, but his words were directed at Miya. “Miya, you should go back now.” Then he said, “Send Wendy out.”

“I’m not leaving! Don’t bully Thalia! Punish me, blame me, or target me!” Wendy struggled desperately. “Fuck off!” Darion growled.

No one dared linger. Everyone scurried out, and the hospital room door slammed shut.

Darion gripped Thalia’s shoulders tightly, his eyes boring into her pale face, fixated on the strange, cold look in
