Chapter 445
“Aren’t I the jerk here?” Darion said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
Darion shot her a look, with a smug tone.
Wendy was momentarily speechless, then snapped, “Just because Thalia needs you now, you think that erases all the crap you did before? There’s a kid here, so I’ll keep it clean, but you know damn well what you are!”
She let him have it, then turned and bolted.
Darion narrowed his eyes dangerously. “Maybe I should give Quinn a call.”
Wendy froze in her tracks, feeling her stomach drop.
She slapped her forehead. How could she be so careless?
‘Crap, I totally forgot this bastard is still blackmailing me!’ she thought.
Wendy let out a sigh, then turned back to him. “Mr. Blackburn, please, just ignore what I said earlier. I was being petty, just pretend I was talking nonsense. Don’t take it personally, alright?”
Darion gave her a fake smile. “Yeah, you really are pretty rude.”
Wendy was speechless.
I’m seriously about to lose it!’ she thought.
Thalia said, “Alright, let’s head back. He’s not going to rat you out.”
Wendy breathed a sigh of relief and walked away.
Thalia looked at him, puzzled. “Why did you bring her here?”
Darion replied, “From now on, he’s staying with me.”
Keith, who was standing nearby, lit up at that, his eyes shining with excitement.
Thalia thought for a moment, then kept quiet. She sat by the hospital bed, holding Diana’s dry hand and feeling the warmth in her palm. Her heart felt like it was being torn apart.
“This is all my fault!’ Thalia thought, guilt eating her alive.
I’m the one to blame!’ she scolded herself.
If only I’d stopped Diana from seeing Shyla, maybe none of this would have happened, Thalia wondered. regret flooding her mind.
How devastated and hopeless must Diana feel, knowing her own daughter poisoned her? Thalia thought. her heart sinking in despair.
Thalia pressed her face deep into Diana’s hand, unable to hold back her tears as they poured out.

A small hand was offering her the tissues, its owner watching her with concern.

Thalia hesitated briefly, her long lashes trembling as she took the tissues and wiped away her tears.
Darion said, “Diana’s going to be okay.”
But his words felt hollow and powerless.
Thalia didn’t say anything. She just sat there, quietly watching Diana, who was still unconscious.
As the night grew deeper, Thalia said, “You should go home. I’ll stay here tonight.”
Darion replied, “I’ll stay with you.”
Thalia countered, “You can stay with me, but what about Keith?”
Keith had already fallen asleep, his head resting on Darion’s lap.
The little guy just couldn’t stay up late.
Darion glanced down, his brow furrowing slightly. He gently picked Keith up and said, “I’ll be back soon.”
With that, he carried Keith out of the room.

Thalia curled up on the couch, unable to sleep. She kept wondering how Shyla and Trenton could care so much about Miya. It’s like Diana’s life doesn’t even matter to them anymore.
‘Is there something they’re hiding from me? Some secret I don’t know about?’ Thalia thought, her mind spinning with questions.
Just as Thalia was spiraling with worry, Darion pushed open the hospital room door and stepped inside. He really was quick. Seeing how pale she was, his brows knit together in concern.
“If you keep running yourself ragged like this, Diana won’t get better, and you’ll just wear yourself out. That’s the last thing she’d want to see.”
Thalia sat up straight, locking eyes with him. “Do you know who Miya’s parents were? What did they do? How did they die?”
Darion raised an eyebrow. “You’ve been thinking about all that?”
Thalia grew even more serious. “I’ve thought it over. Maybe Trenton and Shyla had something to do with Miya’s parents’ death. That’s why they’re so lenient and doting on her. They’re trying to make up for their mistakes.”
