Chapter 446
“You’re absolutely right,” Darion said, walking up to her.
He watched her deep in thought, his lips curving into a smirk. “I checked into her parents’ background. They passed away abroad, but the exact cause is still unclear. Trenton and Shyla were traveling with them when it happened.”
Thalia’s eyes lit up instantly. “See? I knew it! If that wasn’t the case, why would they care so much about Miya?”
“Yeah,” Darion replied.
He sat down beside her, his voice low. “But what good does knowing all this do now?”
“It just clears up the questions in my mind,” Thalia said, lowering her gaze. She’d always needed to know why Trenton and Shyla cared about Miya so much, to the point where it was almost too much.
Now, everything made sense.
They felt guilty, so they tried so hard to make it up to her.
A debt that would drive them to such extremes had to be about something as serious as life and death.

Darion watched her lost in thought, a sharp pain twisting in his chest. She’d figured out one part, but there was another layer she didn’t know about.
Why did Miya want to turn the Coleman family upside down?
She never really gave it much thought.
Maybe it was better that way. If she didn’t dig too deep, she wouldn’t have to see just how dark people
could be.
Thalia turned to him. “Why are you back so soon?”
Darion replied, “I said I’d be in and out quickly. I just didn’t feel right leaving you here by yourself.”
Hearing that, Thalia thought about the danger he mentioned, so she just let it go.
She said, “Why don’t you go crash somewhere else? There’s only one couch here, barely enough room for
one person.”
“Says who?” Darion replied.
He arched an eyebrow, then pressed her shoulder, nudging her to lie sideways on the couch. Next thing she knew, he slid in right beside her, his tall body crowding her so much she was practically squished into the cushions.
Thalia’s eyes went wide. “Seriously? You’re really gonna sleep like this?”
Darion wrapped his arm around her, smirking at her stunned face. “Isn’t this cozy?”

Chapter 416
Thalia gave him a dirty look. “Not even close. It’s so cramped. I can’t turn over at all.”
Darion chuckled. “Let’s just squeeze in for tonight. Tomorrow, I’ll book us a hotel nearby so we can be close to the hospital.”
“Then go book a room already. Stop crowding me,” Thalia said, giving him a shove. “I don’t want to just squeeze in with you.”
Darion only tightened his hold on her. “Keep pushing, and we’ll both end up on the floor.”

Thalia could feel his strength. She really didn’t want to land on the floor, but being pressed up against him like this was hardly any better.
She shot him a frosty look. “Let go of me. I need to use the bathroom.”
Darion arched an eyebrow, then got up and watched her head into the bathroom.
But when she came out, she just plopped herself down in the chair, making it clear she wasn’t about to squeeze in with him again.
Darion chuckled, but didn’t push it. He just stretched out on the couch.
The couch was a tiny two-seater, and with his six-foot-one frame, Darion looked totally out of place. He barely fit.
But he didn’t bother getting up. He just shut his eyes and went straight to sleep, like he couldn’t care less.
Night settled in, thick and heavy, and it was getting late.
Darion opened his eyes and spotted Thalia passed out at the bedside, her face pressed against the sheets, looking unexpectedly adorable.
He got up, walked over, and carefully lifted her into his arms.
He moved so quietly she didn’t even stir. He settled her onto the couch, and she instantly rolled over to face the backrest, drifting off even deeper.
