I Divorced You Now You Beg (Thalia and Darion) novel Chapter 496

Chapter 496

Inside the car, Thalia took off her mask, her face full of worry.

She looked at Darion, double-checking, “You’re really not going to give Wendy to him, right?”

Darion, busy with his phone, glanced at her and said, “I told you I wouldn’t. I keep my promises.”

Thalia gazed out the car window with a heavy heart. After a while, she pulled out her phone and dialed Wendy’s number.

“Hi, Wendy. It’s me,” Thalia said.

“Hey, Thalia, sweetie, what’s up?” Wendy’s voice was soft and carefree, as if she didn’t have a single worry in the world.

Thalia wished Wendy could always stay this way.

Thalia said, “The person who picked up Jason’s phone just now is the one who’s been after you.”

“What?” Wendy exclaimed.

“Why him? You all know him?” Wendy asked, still shocked.

“Yeah, due to some circumstances, we’ve been working with him lately,” Thalia explained. “Jason runs into him a lot, so it’s best not to call Jason for now, and try not to go out too much these days.”

Wendy was really on edge. “It’s been days already. Is he still after me?”

“Yeah.”

Thalia sighed. “Seriously, he’s stubborn as hell, and trust me, you don’t want to cross him. Just keep your distance and make sure he never finds you.”

“I know, I know. Just hearing you talk about him gives me the creeps. Now I’m really freaking out,” Wendy said.

Thalia felt a pang of sympathy for Wendy, but she knew she had to be honest with her. Wendy needed to know just how dangerous that guy was. Getting tangled up with someone like him would only turn her life upside down.

“Maybe you should get out of town for a bit. Wait until he’s gone, then come back,” Thalia suggested after thinking it over.

Wendy hesitated, feeling uneasy. ‘Should I really leave?’ “I’ll think about it,” she replied.

“No rush. Just let me know once you’ve decided,” Thalia said.

After hanging up, Thalia let out a soft, shaky sigh.

She still felt uneasy, but for now, Wendy was safe.

In the dim car, Darion watched Thalia fret over someone else, then lowered his eyes, lost in thought.

If there ever came a day when her life was truly at risk, he wouldn’t give a damn about anyone else. All he cared about was making sure she stayed safe and alive.

Jason showed up at Wendy’s place in the middle of the night, pounding on her door like he was trying to break it down.

Wendy nearly jumped out of her skin. She’d just hung up with Thalia, and the way someone was hammering on her door made her think the man Thalia warned her about had finally tracked her down.

She panicked, spinning around in circles in her room. Then she grabbed a kitchen knife, gripping it tightly, and crept toward the door, her heart pounding.

“Wendy, open up!”

That was Jason’s voice calling from outside.

Wendy breathed a huge sigh of relief. “Thank goodness, it’s just Jason. Not Quinn,’ she thought.

She swung the door open, pointing the knife at Jason. “Are you crazy? What the hell are you doing pounding on my door in the middle of the night? If you break it, you’re paying for it!”
