Darion’s ragged breaths fanned over her skin. He’d already ripped off her robe and carelessly tossed it under the bed.

His large hand clamped down on her waist with a bruising grip, his fingerprints quickly blooming on her pale skin.

“Thalia, you brought this on yourself,” his voice low and dangerous.

They spent the whole night wrapped up in each other.

Afterwards, Darion carried her to the shower, pampered her with lotion and skincare, then held her close as they finally fell asleep together.

The next afternoon, Thalia and Darion went to see Matthew again.

Matthew was reduced to skin and bones, yet he was still clinging to life.

Darion hadn’t gotten a single answer out of him, but he had no intention of letting Matthew die just yet.

Matthew’s eyes were lowered, his breathing faint as he hung suspended by his back, the room heavy with the metallic scent of blood.

Thalia leveled her gun, steadying her aim as she asked again, “Who put you up to this?”

Matthew remained silent.

Darion spoke up from the side, “The Evans family’s been in chaos lately. I’ve just been watching, waiting for the perfect moment to make my move. When the time comes, I might just carve out an even bigger share for myself.”

He gave Matthew a cold, indifferent look. “So, are you going to cling to this secret and risk your family, or are you going to talk and protect them? Think it through. If you make the wrong call, your family’s going

to suffer.”

Matthew finally showed a flicker of emotion. He lifted his eyelids to look at them, his voice hoarse as he asked, “Are you in touch with Harvey?”

Darion raised an eyebrow. “Yeah, he’s already in Oakwood.”

“I want to see him,” Matthew said, his voice barely above a whisper.

“Just let me meet him, and I’ll tell you everything you want to know,” he added, his voice rough and desperate.

Darion gave a soft, mocking laugh. “Sure.”

He took Thalia’s hand. “Let’s go wait outside.”

Once they were out of the basement, Thalia asked, “Are we really going to let Harvey come?”

Darion replied, “Of course. If they don’t meet, how are we supposed to get anywhere?”

Thalia still didn’t get it. “Can you just spell it out for me?”

Darion just smirked. “You’ll see soon enough.”

He had his men drag Harvey over. Before Harvey could even step into the basement, Darion ordered a full-on strip search, inside and out, they made sure he had nothing on him, not even a scrap.

Harvey protested, but nobody cared.

Now that he finally understood Matthew’s situation, he knew the truth was out. Matthew had been exposed, just like he feared.

He shoved his glasses back on, looking pissed. “Is that it? Can I see him now or what?”

Darion raised an eyebrow, his gaze lingering on Harvey’s glasses. “I gotta say, I really like your glasses. Let me play with them for a while, yeah?”

“You!” Harvey spat, his face darkening with fury.

“Darion, aren’t you afraid our boss will make trouble for you if you keep this up?” Harvey shot back, his expression sour.

“I’d love for him to try,” Darion scoffed, his eyes going cold. “Go on, you two haven’t seen each other in ages. I’m sure you’ve got plenty to catch up on.”
