Chapter 529
Viola turned to Darion. “How much do you know?”
Darion replied, “About the same as you.”
Viola raised an eyebrow. “Looks like this won’t be easy.”
After a pause, she asked, “Why would the pampered heiress of the Holt family target you?”
She was asking Thalia.
Thalia lowered her gaze, a mocking smile tugging at her lips. “Yeah, I want to know too.”
‘Is it possible that my background is actually tied to the Holt family?
‘Could it be that our identities were actually swapped?
‘She’s scared I’ll take everything from her, so she tried to have me killed.

‘If I die back home, the Holt family will never know that she was never really their daughter,’ she thought.
Thalia’s clear gaze turned icy, her hands balled into fists at her sides.
Darion gently took her hand and murmured, “Relax.”
Thalia looked at him. “What should I do now?”
“You need to become stronger, strong enough to protect yourself. Only then will you be ready for whatever’s coming.” Darion said quietly, his intense gaze locked on her.
Thalia nodded. “Alright, got it.”
Viola watched from the side, raising an eyebrow. “Looks pretty risky, huh.”
Thalia looked at her. “Thanks for stepping in. I wouldn’t have learned any of this without you.”
“He paid me,” Viola said, nodding toward Darion with a smirk. “I’m super easy. Just pay me enough, and I’ll do anything.”
Thalia smiled. “You really are cool. I like your vibe.”
Viola laughed and said, “If you ever have business or need a favor, just call me. Let’s swap numbers.”
With that, she took out her phone.
Thalia didn’t hesitate, and they quickly exchanged numbers.
Just then, a bodyguard came running in. “Mr. Blackburn, bad news! Matthew Evans can’t hold on much longer!”
All that torture has pushed Matthew to his absolute limit, and the forced hypnosis is only making things worse. He’s barely hanging on.

There was a makeshift medical room in the basement.

The air reeked of disinfectant. Matthew lay on the bed, the blood washed away from his body, leaving him alarmingly gaunt. His eyes drifted into a haze, growing more and more unfocused.
“Matthew.”
Just then, a gentle voice called out.
Matthew’s lashes trembled, and his eyes regained a bit of focus. He saw Thalia standing right there beside him.
He stared at her face, suddenly remembering how things used to be. Back when he first came back, before he knew who she really was, when they were still friends and everything felt easy between them.
He managed a weak smile, his voice barely audible. “If only you were someone else… things would’ve been so much easier.”
His words were vague, but Thalia caught his meaning right away.
She lowered her gaze, her tone cool. “Is there anything else you want to say?”
